There is this record collection in storage, rather a heavy box, full of 78 rpm vinyl records, waiting to be converted into CD's. Inherited from previous gen. Mostly Tamil and Telugu songs. I cannot understand the lyrics fully. But there is a sentimental value in listening to them. Unfortunately the conversion project is not on high priority, and there are already many youtube videos of many of the songs. Here is one of them....
@Amulet When I was a child ( I was you know!), ladies in my tenement would use 78 RPM vinyl records to make lovely plates and other curios. Very resourceful ladies, I tell you. They never threw out anything as useless! The movie Sivakavi that ran for 3 hours and 30 minutes was a phenomenal success. It ran for 2 years in a Theater in North Madras. I remember humming those songs almost nonstop! I had a few listeners too!
