For over forty years my dad had been maintaining diary as to expenseson day to day basis.
2. He was recording all expenses in that hard bound HOE & Co diary.

I preserved it for long and in that I noticed the amount he had gifted to various families and relatives in occasions such as wedding, upanayanam, Sassti aptha poorthi, house warming, aayshomam, ear piercing ceremony, puberty attaining, Baba shower function, Ssadha bhi shegam, suga sweekaram , etc.
4. I was astounded when I found that he had spent Rs.154 for conducting my upanayanam in the year 1954 And printed invitation 150
No’ for six annas. Moi money received ranging from ₹5 to 10.
5. He also maintained separate records for gifts & cash received from close relatives. Life seemed to be less expensive.
6 He would always refer -consult - to it to decide cash gift for impending functions among relatives and duringwedding seasons.
