Frugal is essentially Simple Living and High Thinking. I do not think it fits in today's world. There are so many things to do yet so little time. There's so many places to see yet so little time. You cannot do everything you want to do, get everything you want to have, go to all the places you want to visit with frugal living. To me frugal life is not living on a budget, but living a life sensibly, accommodating all the things of my desires in this life because life is too short.
God Frugality in Nature is automatically enforced. 2. If every one adopts frugal living, the civilisation would collapse. The world would turn monotonous. Production losses or nil. World order would change. It is said if one spends minimal for essential needs then its frugal living. If it means only to keep body and spirit or soul intact, world would need only beggar’s description. 3. But again frugal could vary According to strata. Like frugal living by a monk or saint or middle class people and the place they inhabit. thanks for your query. Regards. God’s associates in heaven make a frugal living.
It means spending and using less things than you need or would like to use/spend. So in chadar termilogy, stretch your legs only half way of chader(blanket). It means different things for different people. But for sustainable world and leaving a good world after us, for our children, we should all adopt frugal living. Basically have 'lessend carbon foot print'. Don't buy too many cloths- it is okay to repeat stuff. Don't buy all china made cheap trinkets etc etc etc etc
Not to take away from OP’s query but chadar terminology brought a smile to my face. Is there something called kambal terminology too ? OP, the definition of frugal is very relative to one’s wealth. Warren Buffet is supposed to be frugal but I am sure his frugal life is luxury to some. Frugal for me is never paying full price on anything ( clothes /shoes etc)
Frugal for me would be to 1.avoid picking up unnecessary stuff from the super market / grocery stores, 2. avoid buying things just because there is a sale, 3.avoid lump sum quantities of perishable food items considering we are only 2 people at home
Like @SinghManisha mentioned, wealthy people doing without is frugal; poor people doing without is called poverty. Middle class people are both frugal and poor in stretches of their lives.
"Frugal" for me meant re-using/re-purposing the stuff like mix and match the clothing, less wastage in thrash bags, buying needed perishable quantities, planning (both meal and finances), living for self instead of society!!
Frugal is when you CHOOSE a cheaper option or CHOOSE to not spend on something you somewhat like and have the money to spend. But decided you are better off saving the money for something else Being able to CHOOSE & choosing to live below your means is frugal
