Thanks for the last two articles Kamala. I must confess I never quite paid attention to why Pluto was demoted to dwarf planet. Just had a vague notion about it having to do with size. I ended up reading a bunch of new hypotheses on the origin of Pluto. I never knew that Pluto-Charon are most likely a double dwarf planetary system that formed simultaneously when their parent bodies collided with each other. To think that they deduce such facts from the relative densities of the objects and surrounding KBOs. Incredibly fascinating!

Very informative. @kkrish few questions from my 5 yr old kid what is prograde and retrograde ?
Why Venus and Uranus spin retrograde?
Why do we learn about planets?
What is beyond our Galaxy and why space is between other galaxies ? Why galaxies dont have clusters like stars constalletion?
    (Mudiayala-vadivelu tone)
    She has more questions...

    Hi Kamala,

Interesting as usual. I am also one of those disappointed that Pluto is no longer classified as a planet. Somehow it is upsetting to have some basic concepts that one grew up with turned on their heads! Was checking out Google for planets according to Indian astrology and was intrigued to find that Uranus, Neptune and Pluto were missing on the list. But of course, then what was referred to as 'grihas' cannot be translated so simply into 'planets'.

    @Thyagarajan sir, @Gauri03 , @Vedhavalli , @satchitananda

Thank you all for your comments.
No, I have not forgotten you.
I have been very ill the past week. Infact, my whole family went thru this bug.
But this bug seems to like me more than the rest. Refusing to go despite medicines.
It may easily be another week or so before I respond.
    Till then ...

    Thank you @satchitananda , @Vedhavalli , @Gauri03

I am baaack! (Read it Schwarzenegger style)

I am slightly better now; hopefully the upcoming long weekend should help me with enough rest and complete recovery.
I seem to have caught a major bug. For three weeks it racked me with fever, severe cough, cold, the worst headache a human can get, and I lost my voice. I spent all these days wishing I could unscrew my head, rinse it well to clear the sinuses, and then put it back.
But that was not an option, sadly :)

I did log in yesterday to respond, but something else came up and I had to log off.
