Recently one of my friends said its possible for getting US/Canada passport for a child if the baby is born there. Is it true? What about the parents , can they be naturalized?

How long will it take ? She said her cousin went to somewhere in US for 3 months , had a baby and came back. Is there any other country which grants citizenship on birth even if parents are foreigners.

A baby born in the US will get automatic citizenship. It will not help the parents with visa/green card in any way. The US citizen child can only sponsor the parents when it becomes an adult. You will need health insurance in the US or the ability to pay on your own.

Thanks for the reply. What will be the approximate charge for cesarean or normal delivery in case of not having an insurance.

It’s hard to survive without insurance as it’s very expensive! I remember being charged with 35,000 USD and my insurance took care of it,costs differs depending on the hospital and doctor based on services for normal,c section, epidural if taken, anesthesiologist, etc.

Is 35,000 USD for c section or normal? Its not possible to get insurance when you come on a visit visa right?

It was a discounted amount billed to my insurance for a c section and since we already met the yearly deductible we only had to pay 3000$ out of our pocket. The amount would definitely be much higher (>35,000 $) for people with no insurance.

People purchase travel insurance when they come to stay here with their kids for a few months on a visiting visa but that only covers life threatening emergencies, not deliveries.

Tourist visa - medical insurance doesnt cover delivery or pregnancy related expenses.
Its too difficult to get gynac's appointment here .I have a family doc but it took more than 2 months to get a gynac's appointment when I was pregnant.People come on tourist visa first need to find a family doc and then get gynac's appointment. You cnat walk in to a hospital to see a specialist .Tourist will not have OHIP card and each scan , blood tests or each appointment cost good amount of money.
I returned to India for my delivery though I had OHIP coverage .I was not keen on foreign citizenship for my child(purely individual pref).I have heard of tourism pregnancies but citizens here themselves wait for long to get specialist appointment and wonder what would be the plight of tourists who doesnt have family doc or OHIP ?
Things will not be very smooth as we imagine.

In your other thread. You have mentioned that you have not consummated your marriage yet.
    First work on it.

This is very rude. The OP has all right to have doubts and get them clarified/ask for opinions. Just coz she has mentioned her issues in another thread doesn’t mean she cannot ask any questions. Very sad on your part to post like this.
