My Dear friend ! I'm also a girl & wear decent dress in door as well outdoor too but If you talk about ladies wearing Saree & women's midriff so let me tell you. Saree is a nice dress of women which always show midriff. We can't point about ladies & their Saree while expose midriff.

See this image http://i.telegraph.co.uk/multimedia/archive/02125/sari_2125237b.jpg ! You can see image, Ladies has weared saree & nothing exposing & another side, http://media.apunkachoice.com/image/big1/bi-49416.jpg & http://articles.sandhira.com/images...le/beautiful_indian_sandhira_140377357990.jpg too, This is over exposing (I undersand this pic is of Bollywood actress) but I just mean to clear you. Today most of girls & wmens follow over exposing.

I don't say Just only guys can wear shorts there is too much different between guys and girls body ! You would have seen ladies dress, While they wear too tight dress & expose their body in tight dress. You would have seen most of ladies wear short dress & their bra straps openly show in public places. Is it good ... ?

Laides & young girls wear too tight leggings & thier panty lines show off... is it gud.... ?

:) I had seen your previous post also but did not respond as I did not want to argue. We both have different thinking.
My problem is not with Saree , my problem is with people who dissect each and everything a girl wears. Op had a problem with women wearing leggings, I mean come on. Kurta and leggings are moat decent dresses. Then someone will have problem with shorts and capris. If we dont like that dress then we should not wear it but expecting someone else not to wear it Because we think it is not decent is not done. For some very orthodox guy wearing a full body dress ia must , someone would say women should cover their head.for you saree is moat decent dress but for many it is not.
I am just saying lets not do moral policing for the way any girl dresses.

I have posted my opinion in another thread with the same title in another forum. I havent realized that there are two threads posted with the same title and content.

In my opinion, its better to let a woman decide what she wants to wear. Be it the length, cut, make or color of the dress. Setting rules for dressing by age, color, shape and size is a bad idea. Only when we respect a woman irrespective of her dress, complexion or size, her confidence levels get a boost. I have seen Non-Indian women wear short black dresses (little black dresses) to parties and restaurants for dinner and some really pretty colorful dresses to work. Some of these women were in their 60's, some have a beautiful brown complexion and some are over weight and all they got to hear were compliments that they look great, beautiful and stunning! Its basically respect for a fellow female, who is a human being too.

Shorts and skirts are what a woman would prefer to wear after long cold winters! It helps the body get exposed to sunlight and get the much needed Vitamin D.

Wear what you are comfortable with. If you like wearing clothes that might expose your skin, it is still fine. YOUR interests do matter. Not others. Also choose clothes as per the location.

I looked carefully, could not find any earlier post by you in thread. Pointer appreciated.

One of the rare times I am reading about "exposure by default." and "classic saree views from the side." If not, anytime the saree is discussed, any argument that it is inherently a dress that provides for exposure of curves or skin is dismissed forthwith.

Hmmm... this is exactly what gives me mixed feelings. Exposure is fine if it is by default ... honored for centuries?
