Any suggestions for dealing with impotence.

He's nearing 50 and I am early 30's. We've only been married about 2 years. And we want this to happen soon due to his age and because we want to have a few.

Does anyone know any remedies for this... Foods, prayers, herbs, techniques??

I am at a loss-his medical labs check out and Google hasn't been helpful so far. Medication is the absolute last resort as we don't like to take anything.

    Any thoughts?

50 for men is absolutely a normal age, as for as potency is concerned.

First Things First ....is he on any medication for diseases like hypertension and endogenous depression ?

The medication called beta blockers are very commonly used medications for high blood pressure. The names will be atenolol, metoprolol and labetalol etc, all ending with "...olol" are notoriously known to cause erectile dysfunction.

The second most common culprit is anti-depressant medications. These medications are also known to cause impotence.

Is he on any of the above to set of medications?

Fine. It's impossible to solve the issue by exchange of information in this forum.

But I can give you a brief outline of how to go about. if you are in US, you have to approach your general practitioner first. your GP will examine your man thoroughly and will come to a provisional conclusion as to whether the issue is psychological or physical.

If the reason is found to be psychological then he will be referred to a psychiatrist.

if the reason is found to be physical , then he will be referred either to an Internist or a urologist for therapy with medications.

Mind you a vast majority of cases of impotence are totally treatable except the cases where impotence is due to a phenotypic genetic abnormality of male genotype. (This is a genetic diagnosis which will be last to be made, by the Internist, after ruling out all treatable causes of impotence)

Hey Penelope. How are you doing? It must be a little worrying to know that. I think Viagra has been a great solution for that. Other than that, I recommend weight lifting. Or even testosterone enhancers. All of this is correlated. If you haven't got the sperm count checked. You can never know for sure. Get that done. Then make some conclusions. Or try getting a sperm donor if all else fails. And in the last, you have the adoption process'. Good luck with everything. Take care, honey.
