    @JAG,

I almost missed a conference call by looking at JAG's recipe. Let me read it patiently later and understand how to do Chakka Pradaman. We get plenty of Jack fruit here and I will try it myself next week. When we lived in Trivandrum, almost all our neighbors shared whenever they prepared it but neither of us learned how to do it.

We also get it from our local market. It looked funny, buying a 15lbs size fruit (69 cents per lb), many approached my DH, 'what is it, how does it taste, etc' - My DH was very proud of his purchase and responding to them!

BTW, I freeze it in ziploc bags and it came out to be good, by naturally thawing it again.

Good to know u can freeze it @poovai . Ofcourse it rarely last more than a couple of days at home anyway...so there is usually nothing left for me to freeze. :tearsofjoy:

Thanks for this thread! I was gonna post something like this since I have very little time on hand for cooking, I usually look for quick recipes or something which can be cooked in one cooker.

    5) fresh coconut milk - 1.5 cups
    6) salt - 1 tsp
    7) few mint leaves

    Temper
    1) fennel - 1 tsp
    2) bay leaf - 1
    3) star anise - 1
    4) cinnomon - 2 inch
    5) clove - 2 pieces
    6) coconut oil / ghee - 2 tbslp
    Method
    1) Pour oil on IP on hot indication
    2) temper with tempering items
    3) saute onion until pink and saute ginger garlic paste and green chillies
    4) add washed rice and saute for 1 min.
    5) pour fresh coconut milk
    6) add few mint leaves
    7) add salt , give everything a stir.
    8) close IP , press manual low pressure for 6 minutes.
    9) then do manual pressure relase.
Pappad , pickle and raita makes good combo.
Add frozen peas if you wish.
Mild puloa best eaten as fresh , makes great lunch box food too as it retains the flavors.

How do you all cook rice well in the Instant Pot? I can never get basmati rice to come out as nicely as in the rice cooker. I use 1 cup rice to 2 cups water and the rice setting.

I've never made plain Basmati rice. In mushroom pulao, I used 1-2 tbsp of yogurt., so I use rice -water ratio 1:1 only, comes out good. The grains are separate and cooked just as much as I want them.

I make plain rice (not Basmati, some other kind) with 1 cup rice, 2 cups water. Rice setting (usually 12 mins). It doesn't come out well. Is ok when hot, but after 30-45 mins, is sticky.

I am thinking of trying cooking it in smaller "insert" vessel rather than straight in inner pot. I cook rice straight in inner pot (3qt IP).

PIP and wash and soak the basmati rice for about 30 min. Drain and cook in rice setting . NPR . While making pulav I also add a dollop of ghee to the water before cooking.
