    Hi Kamala,

    Thank you for sharing. I learned something new today. People say surround yourself with smarter friends and now I understand the importance.

    When you pluck that with total concentration you will see the circular tip and thin fiber holding that even smallest flowers will have this. Is this being mindful

    @Srama

    Thanks for this link as it has explained Tratika very well. In the Yoga class that I attended, Tratika using the Thumb to focus was taught as a part of the eye exercise. They had mentioned candle gazing but never explained the purpose behind. So I never gave any importance to it. How I wish I knew its significance then! (Failure/shortcomings on the teacher's part to explain results in the loss of an important lesson to be learnt by the student. No wonder our religion and culture equated the Guru with God.) Both the methods you mentioned are very similar to Raja Yoga meditation taught by the Brahmakumaris. Vipassana teaches one to focus on the base of the nose and observe the inhalation and exhalation and further. Some other schools ask the practitioner to close the eyes and internally focus on the middle of the forehead or tip of the nose. Unless one tries one would never know what suits them the best. Instinctively I seem to close my eyes and focus on the centre of my forehead.

    Ultimately, the message is to still the mind, to become aware of the now, to become thoughtless or be a neutral observer of thoughts:) Tough! It may not be tough if we can commit and stay focussed. Having a Guru or a knowledgeable person around to clarify minor queries and correct our path from time to time would be a blessing.

    You are welcome @Viswamitra. I don't know about me being smarter than you, but I will take the compliment. Makes me feel good. Can take some more too :)
