u r welcome. I am also interested to know now as to the name and raga of First keerthana sung by this great saint in public and the last too. thanks. Regards.
The applause is only if I had learnt it. But my little assimilation is only by listening to it over decades. I got inspiration to listen when I was compelled to stay with a friend's friend flat in then Bombay where he used to play MS Amma's "His master's Voice" long playing records and "grundic" tape Regards.
Thanks. But there are some miracle stories happened in temples where dumbs with divine blessings got voice to sing fiull throated. In Saraswthi Sabhadam Siviaji Statrts suddenly singing "agara mudhala elzuthellam ariyavaithai devi..._" which is based on karna parambarai story. Maha kavi Kalidass heard to be like that. It is heard Narayaneeyam sung ex tempore in presence of lord Guruvaurappa and for each sonnet at its finish THE LORD - idol head - slightly slanted wondering "appadiya?". Regards. God Bless Us All.
Sri @Thyagarajan Sir, Sadguru did not "perform" in public. He was always singing about Lord Rama. He did not sit and write down any of his songs. He just... sang. Such was his devotion. Only his disciples wrote down the songs and documented. Once when the rajah of Tanjore, after learning of Sri Thyagaraja invited him to court to sing. Sri Thyagaraja refused the invitation because he did not want to sing in praise of the king. Instead he sang "Nidhi Chaala Sugama" in Kalyani. In that song the line, "mamata bandhana yuta narastuti sukhamA..." - meaning "what pleasure is there in singing the praise of a short lived mortal who is inflated with arrogance ans self-centered ego" is my favorite.
Nothing to correct sir. Your question is a good one. Though the Sadguru did not "perform" he did sing at various temples. At Srirangam he composed the "SriRanga pancharatna" of which I know "Jootamu raare" and "Sri Rangasayee". At Kanchipuram he composed " Varadaraja Ninnukori" "Therathi Yagarada" at Thirupathi These are just a few. I will be posting "kshetra kirtanas" in the carnatic thread after I complete the composers' list. Keep a look out.
