Well, alas, I live in the US in the early 21st, where Leonardo might not wax quite so eloquent:
"Once you have tasted United, you will forever fly with your eyes turned earthward, for where you might be safe and long to return with life and limb intact."

 

What was that non-veg your neighbour was plying you with? Was that also fish? Stew, fry, fish in tamarind juice, fish in tomato gravy, fish and aubergine mash?

When I eat fish in sushi, battered cod and chips, or the Caribbean salted cod fritters with plantain, how bland! I recall that flavoursome homemade masala-soaked wet fish. I love the fish markets back in India. I used to accompany my dad to the fish market. Absolutely loved the clamour, the crates and people yelling their lungs out for a bargain.

Indeed, haggling in a fish market is quite different from a vegetable market. You feel like someone might collapse in that hubbub.

Here's a banana leaf wrapped fish at a restaurant. Fish is my favourite! Nothing comes close to it when you simmer it in a masala infused tomato and tamarind juice. Awwha! Barbecue bhi teek hai but then the stew ...ahoowa!

In Dubai, simple pan-fried sole fish but loved it so much!

I have few more fish pictures in Naples, Anatolia and Luxor. But you will get bored. I always make it a point to eat fish when I travel. Yum!
