Hi, Can anyone help me how many types of embroideries are there. Is that magam, Aari, Zardosi etc. will comes under embroidery?
We can do embroidery in hand as well as machine. In hand embroidery we have many types. Indian embroidery and rest of it. In indian embroidery there are many types. The state wise embroidery also famous. Basic hand embroidery stitches are there.it is more than 500stich types. Using this type we can do somany. Kasmiri /kashida embroidery Chikenkari from Up kutch work from gujarat mirror work from rajashtan Kantha embroidery from west bengal kasuti from karnataka/anthra Aari/zardosi...mostly from north india Toda from tamilnadu phulkari from panjap in gujarat rajashthan they have some more native embroidery works.

In 70's and 80's there was an embroidery type taught in the schools. I think the main type of the embroidery was called huck or Swedish weave. The sequins were added to the last layer. Does anyone know about it? I saw the batwa bag made using that embroidery type at , MY SONPARI: Dori Bags (mom's work)
