In the old days of the Internet it used to be IRC channels. Now it is Reddit and Hacker News. I spend way more time there than on IL. I have a few favorite communities on Reddit, and I've been active there since my college days! Also Pinterest! I am addicted to Pinterest. I'll come back with others later but for news I read the Washington Post, New York Times, New Yorker, and anything on the front page of news.google.com. I use the Pocket and Feedly apps to consolidate my online reading and viewing -- Blogs, news feeds, YouTube subscriptions all in one place.
Google news for quick headlines, reuters, nytimes, subbuskitchen for recipes, azlyrics for music lyrics
