@SGBV red lipstick looks gorgeous on dusky skin too.. pick the ones with blue undertones like MAC Ruby Woo or Stila Fiery.. Creamy and matte are the best texture for everyday wear.

    Also,

    - In the morning after washing your face, apply some BB/CC cream and curl your lashes, by the time you're ready to bring the kids to school, the BB cream would have oxidize and your skin will just look naturally flawless (this is what i do everyday the minute i get up)

    - Are you allowed to take vitamins along with your medications? 1000 mg Vitamin C in the morning and at night really helps the skin.

    - Have different varieties oxford shirts, it will always make you look good and less haggard even at your laziest day

    - invest in designer scarves too

Oh SGBV, I'm so glad you are feeling better. I can understand when you are overwhelmed you let go of the not so important stuff.

Last year, I had this phase too. I'm just coming out of it myself. It's not any different to other people but I feel better when I'm doing things to stay well groomed.

I also went through this whole no make up for six months phase. I used none at all. No bindi even. All I did was wear bright colors and do my hair and looked good. As long as I was taking in the effort to dress appropriately, I felt good. When I didn't and threw on whatever I found first, is when my mood tanked. It took some effort though to get back into the zing of things. It's such a mental block to do things for yourself when you have so much going on but it helps in the long run. Doing little things for ourselves help.

@SGBV- I am glad to hear that you are feeling better. Not getting diagnosed is so frustrating. I have been in your shoes. Five years ago, I was diagnosed with lymphoma and it was 4 months of going from one physician to other to this specialist to that and finally the diagnosis was that I have Lymphoma. That too a month later two oncologists decided that it wasn't Lymphoma (or any other cancer) afterall. It was just a non-specific swelling of lymph nodes that finally went away. But those six months were hard.
Give yourself time, you can change your appearance whenever you want. The most important part to remember is- you need to like yourself and dress up for your self-confidence not to impress others.

Red lipstick and nails look good on any color. I am not very fair ( I used to be but after both pregnancies I had melasma and this time it is still there). I don't wear any makeup. My routine is- wash face with Dove soap or a mild cleasnser, apply sunscreen liberally, put kohl, shape eyebrows with the kohl liner, deo, perfume and that's it. Some days I wear lipstick, others I don't- just apply moisturiser on my lips. I apply red lips when I feel particularly dressy :). And believe me, I am a brown lipstick girl, even a pink lipstick used to be a big no no for me. Now, I put that red lipstick on and don't even think twice. IMG_20170124_094036.jpg

    Here to the Red Lipstick!

and @SGBV, another lip tip is that, the darker colors tend to make the lips look smaller. If you want the "full" look, then you need to go with lighter colors.

    Oh ladies..... thanks a lot.
I was extremely busy these days, and had very limited access to internet facilities. So I could not respond to this thread.
Thank you soooo much. You guys have changed my mind about red lipsticks. In fact, I tried a good red nail polish and red lipstick this time, and it does some magic.
I could feel the instant glam with them today.

My sister has suggested some hair treatment, hope it works good on my hair too. Let me try that during next weekend.

Because my hair has become my enemy now a days. No matter how much I try to dress well or look great, this unhealthy hair messes everything. So, I feel I should start with that.

Keratin treatment is on the list. Thanks for the reminder.

Will post my pics after sometimes. Feeling very positive

Hi @SGBV im in my mid twenties, and i always wear salwars/chudidhars only to work after my preg. I also wish to upgrade my style quotient! I would like to join u. my height is 162cm and i am yet to get back to my pre preg weight. its very stubbourn fat to be reduced.
I have a ques here- will i be termed as a 'old-fashion-sense' lady as i only wear chudhidhars????
and i am not comfortable yet to wear western outfits given my weight, but i dont look fat due to my height( a plus point!)

    Hi @BDivya
    Welcome to the club.
My SIL (BILs sister) always wear shalwars. But she looks very cute and professional on them.
She has straightened her hair and maintain her skin with loads of parlor help otherwise.
She has many shalwars with different styles. Like sleeveless, long sleeves, different materials, different colors etc
She always designs them as suitable for her body. She has a toned body although she is a mom of two.
So, her shalwars would be always aligned to her body size, thus giving a glamorous look.

She has a good collection of matching accesaries, and footwares. Her handbags are also in good taste.

As a complete package, she looks great. So, shalwars is not a problem or not something old fashioned. But how we carry shalwars is the problem. In India or even in my country, shalwars are still not out of fashion.

No salwars are not at all out of fashion..in fact salwar is a formal wear for working women in India and you can still look good..
There are so many organisations which insist on women to wear either chudidar or saree to work..few allow casuals once a week and many don't ..there are so many ladies who don't have a choice but to wear chudidar or saree to work..so u should be ok.
Get salwars stitched in good pattern, with good fit and with nice necklines and back patterns..that itself makes you look good..
You can purchase trendy kurtas and kurtas online and do mix n match with Kevin's, patiala bottoms etc and look good..
Puffed sleeves give a younger appearance to some ladies..
Churidars help in covering flaws..for example if you have a paunch, wear Anarkali, flared type, A line kurtas that are loose around waist and cover tummy..and with chudidar bottom..it just draws attention away from waistline..

@SGBV great tips from all the ladies. @nuss your dresses are wonderful. Maybe you should start a thread on fashion. I believe there was a thread like, "what you are wearing today".

I just apply a aloe vera face cream and a mild lipstick. I wear matching artificial jewelry. I prefer not wear Indian dress to work, so mostly pants and tops. But I wear a cardigan. That gives me a lot of confidence. Also high heel shoes Sometimes I put on a scarf (I have lots of them) so that builds in the confidence. I do the eyebrows and also get the hair done regularly.

Drink green tea and always drink warm water. Also, get Turmeric tablets. I have been using them for a year now and I now never have aches, inflammation or even common cold or flu.

    Take care.

Thanks Akanksha. I used to write a style blog 2-3 years ago. Don't get time now-a-days.
