    @anu1215
    I disagree with you, its not their responsibility to take of my son, its my responsibility. If they like to spend some time and ask me to send there for couple of months, i am happy to do that, but will never force them. Any ways its not that topic of this thread, lets not go into that.

    Hi @viki123
    How is your DS progressing now? Did speech therapy help him greatly?
    I have a friend who is exactly in the same situation as you were when you opened this thread. I am really not sure what to tell her becasue we didnt do any evaluation for our DS. I appreciate if you could update.

    He is now talking 2-3 word sentences. Though he is not up to his age.

    We did speech therapy for him for 3 months, he did not show much improvement then. But few thigs that kick started his talking are following:
    1. Book reading and activity play with our interactions
    2. Reducing TV time and phone time and increasing outside play or playing new kids.
    3. Change in day care. Previously is went to a day care where he new all kids and teaches since he was infant and was not forced to talk , as he knew the routine & teachers new about him. With new day care is was forced to use his words.

    We did evaluation just make sure that there is no autisum or other development issues.

    Hope this helps.

    Thank you @viki123 for your reply. My friend told that she is going to take her kid to speech therapy.

    My kid had this problem and we went for hearing test twice and got cleared.

    Also,I feel kids should start some words atleast by 3 else never ignore.Although one of my friend's son started talking by 4 and non stop and all was fine.

    My daughter is 3.5 years old but still having speech delay. But she did improve a lot in speech and social activities after starting Preschool. If there is no hearing trouble, they sure will catch up. Just don't give up. Exposure them to lot of talking, stories, friends. Sometimes kids pick up speech when not with familiar people,when they need to communicate to express themselves. Also make them say what they are pointing at and need instead of simply giving it to them. That's all we can do as parents. I really recommend some playschool or daycare or something if you don't see progress after a while. But don't get too worried. I'm still more or less in your shoes.
