Raja owes some amount to Raj.
Raju also owes some amount to Raj.
Raja gives his purse to Raj towards his debt , saying that his purse contains an excess amount of one fourth of what he owes to Raj and hence requests him to return it.
Similarly Raju also gives his purse to Raj saying that his purse also contains some amount in excess of his debt , and requests Raj to return the excess amount.
Raj has borrowed some amount from Mrs.Raji.
Now Raj gives Rs.500/- to Mrs.Raji and gets back Rs200/- from her. He asks if she can accept a new silk sari towards the balance of the amount borrowed . She says O.K.
Raj takes the amounts due to him from the purses of Raja and Raju . From the exact total amount so obtained he purchases a new sari , adds a profit of ten percent to its price , and tells Raji the new price of the sari.
Raj hands over the sari to Raji and clears his debt .
Raj gives Rs.1000/- to Raja and Rs.375/- to Raju and closes their accounts .
If Raj had borrowed RS.8000/- from Raji , what were the amounts in the purses of Raja and Raju when they handed over them to Raj ?

    CLUE :
Raj had borrowed RS.8000/- from Raji.
He gave RS.500/- to Raji and got back RS.200/- from her.
    ie.,he gave RS.300/- to her.
The net result is he had to pay RS.7700/- to her to clear the debt , for which he gave a sari and settles his account with her.
    Please proceed.

    CLUE no.2 :
Profit on the sari is 10%.
Hence it becomes 110% of original price.
    110% of price = RS.7700/-
So Price of the sari = Rs.7000/-
    ---------------------------------------------
    CLUE no.3:
Raj returns RS.1000/- to Raja which was the 1/4 excess of the borrowed amount.
Hence the borrowed amount is Rs.4000/-.

    Final clue :
Thus Raj got Rs.4000/- from Raja and
    Rs. 3000/- from Raji.
From this total amount of Rs. 7000/- he purchased the sari.
