Chapter-2

“Vivaan..last five minutes” the voice interrupted his thoughts.


She must be in mid thirties and was still in her swim suit waiting for her son to emerge from the pool. She pulled a dressing gown over her and caught Jai in the window.


She smiled at Jai and went to help her son come out from the pool.


'Excuse me sir. Where do you want me to keep this suitcase?” asked Jai’s chauffeur entering the room.


Jai looked at the suitcase. Last ten years his suitcase was always packed with his basic set of clothes, toiletries, passport, cash card and everything he needed to fly out in a short notice. He at least boarded three flights in a month.


Not anymore. He was not ready to board flights at blink of eye.


He needs change...He needs stability


He looked himself in the mirror. Though he was in late forties , he looked younger than his age .Thanks to the image consultants his company insisted on hiring, he was always dressed well. His hair was colored to perfection. His mannerism reflected power, intelligence and authority. He was always media and customer ready.



“Keep that inside this cupboard. You may leave for the day now. Pick me up at 9am tomorrow.” he instructed.


Priya read the story book for the nth time.


“How many times should I read Vivaan?”


“One more time please” Vivaan requested. Armed with twinkle in eyes, dimple in cheeks, loaded with naughtiness Vivaan was one of the loveliest and intelligent child. He is just like his dad she thought; the thought of Vivaan's dad filled her heart with warmth.


Priya spent the sunday afternoon in doing laundry, chopping vegetables for the upcoming week and helping Vivaan with project work. In the evening she took him to the kids play area. Vivaan loved the play area and was joined by few kids of his age.


Priya used that time to play table tennis with the another girl from the same gated community. While they were about to finish the game, a tall stranger walked inside the room.


Priya's eye recognized him as the man who smiled at her in swimming pool.


“Quite into the sports. Aren't you?” he asked.


“Yeah..I love to..”


“Mummy, he pushed me down” Vivaan came crying to her. She listened to Vivaan and comforted him. Jai took the opportunity to take a better look at her. She was not a head turner but definitely a beautiful woman. She looked fit, well dressed and well groomed. There was a charm in the very way she carried herself.


Vivaan looked at Jai. He went up to him, offered his hands and said


“I'm Vivaan, residing in villa 301.”


Jai smiled at Vivaan and replied ‘Nice to meet you young man. I’m Jai. New here'.


By that time Vivaan's friends came in search of him and Vivaan dashed off. Jai looked at Priya and said 'Quite a remarkable kid'.


'He is.' she laughed.' By the way 'I'm Priya. Pleasure meeting you. You look very familiar.' she said.


That minute Jai received a call from his lawyer.


“Hi Jai, Aarthi wants to talk to you...”


“She better get this straight. She don’t deserve any time from me...” Jai shouted on top of his voice.


“Jai listen you need to talk to her. She is very desperate ...”


Jai waved a hand at Priya and went out of the room.


Priya stood stunned witnessing the telephone exchange and wondered what made him shout at top of his voice.
