    Godesses Vijaya – The victorious one

    The term Viijaya means victorious and Vijaya Lakshmi provides or rather helps in attaining victories but not only in battle fields but also in the field of life. She is one of the Ashta Lakshmi and she helps in overcoming all the hurdles of life and passing every difficult stage with flying colours. She gives strength to both body and mind and help in surpassing the difficult and troublesome phases of life with ease and success.


    The goddess is depicted in red garments and is adorned with flowers. She is an eight armed goddess who holds various kinds of weapons. She holds a disc, sword, shield and a noose. She has a lotus and a conch in other two hands. She makes gestures from her two more hands from which one is in abhaya mudra and another in varada mudra.


    Flower offered: Malligai, Rose

    Neivedhyam: sakkarai pongal, sweets

    Thithi: Dasami

    Slokam: Om vijaya devyai vidmahe maha nithyaayai dheemahi

    Thanno devi prachodayaath

    wah it is such a big thread :) though i don't believe in god :) and mess up with goddess names i like the picture here nice pics :)

    I am glad you liked the pics. I believe in god. He has helped me many times in my life when I couldn't see any way out at all!

    He was there when even my own mom couldn't help me through! I play, laugh, cry, scold, talk, chat, do everything with god.

    HE teaches me things too! Like when something that I am doing is not right, he just doesn't let me do it! Howmuch ever I try to make it happen, he doesn't let it happen.

    So yes! I believe in god! He is there watching over me! :)

    glad to hear that :) i dont believe but i never expect others to be the same :) so congo from my side :) and enjoy ur navarathri :) since my whole family except amma is like that i dont no more abt rituals but if she ask me to pray i have to :) amma ilaya solradhu :) i accompany her to temples i like the silence there scenery sculptures :)

    told you :) my family we dont give that importance to festivals according to my senses i never celebrated navarathri :) we all just stay together on leave days watch movies go for shopping over all we stay together thats all :)

    My celebration was increased after marriage because I follow my husband family ways. My family had minimal kind of celebration.
