Moving To Albany, For 3 Months Need Guidance

    Hi all

    Currently i am in relative house..

    In couple of weeks should be moving to Albany ny.. Husband already there...( In room given by employer)

    His extension n contract both needs renewal in dec 2016...


    So practically v r setting up house for only 3 months.. After that if it get's extended bonus... Its gonna be me husband and 14 months old baby...

    V have started looking for apartment n used cars can anyone give me list of items to buy just for survival...

    Like



    Pressure cooker ( have 2 cookers)
    Have few vessels n scoops

    What else will i be needing just to run show, for 3 months...

    Kitchen

    Knife
    Vegetable grater n peeler
    Chapati rolling pin ( will roll on granite slab
    Frying pans n tava
    Grocery storing (will buy few wll Manage few in ziplock cover)
    Few bowl n Rubbermaid boxes for oven and refrigeration usage


    Bedroom

    Comforters or sleep bags

    Bathroom

    Bucket (have jug)
    Screen for tub

    I will be doing idli dosa, but don't want to invest 100$ for Indian mixe or grinder for now.. planning to do idling in big frying pan in flat plates.. suggest a American blender/mixer ( around 30$ )which works approximately well to grind batter..

    What else I wll be needing apart from grocery toiletries, n stuff..

    Other tricks n tips to save money r welcome..

    Will you be needing the blender for baby food and other Indian gravies? If yes, then buy Oster brand for $20.

    If you are buying blender only for idly-dosa batter, I suggest you can just buy ready-made batter available in Indian grocery stores.

    Thanks for reply I use mixe for few cooking but can manage without one.. but I am thinking it's best to buy some blender which can help me make batter at least if it matches 80% of Indian mixer/grinder m ok.. and ok to invest up to 50$ for mixer/blender

    For 3 months, maybe store bought batter is a better option. Also you could plan to cook more of one pot meals and tiffin like upmas to reduce buying too many Pots and pans. There are these clips that are available in ikea which you could use to cilp the pouches of the groceries. You don't need to transfer them into ziplock in that case
