I don't know about baby creams.
For myself I get the Body Shop body butters for very dry skin: mango, shea and hemp are the most hydrating. They are always running 50% off sales and a tub lasts me a long time. It works best on damp skin right after showering.

apply oil (coconut/olive oil) and apply moong dal powder mixed with water , rub it and shower, works well for both kids and adults. towels may smell oily.

aveeno body mositurizer immediately after drying with towel works too.

    anything doing regular is important.

For harsh winter Aveeno lotion is best. Oil of olay facial moisturizer and olay body lotion works too ! Other products like Cetaphil and Eucerin in extreme weather are helpful. You might have to try different lotions and see what works best for your skin.

In my experience moong powders had dried skin more.

My 3 year old son's elbow and surrounding areas became itchy , and bumpy last winter, doctor told to stop soap and use cetaphil body wash. after using it he didn't have that problem.
Not only using body moisturizer also Soap should be completely stopped and use body wash instead. (olay ultra with sea butter I am using now, Aveeno body wash I used and it is also fine)

I keep Aquaphor and Vaseline as staple in the home for whole family. For winters, I do it whole body for my kid and I love it. Now they have Aquaphor in tube form also which is less thicker. I have cetaphil but not a fan. Cerave ( infants) did not work for my kid.
Nivea body lotion and Aveeno is also good but may not in dead winter.
Lotions gradually dry out in extremely cold winters so we need something of thicker consistency that stays longer.
