I am being flippant (ummm) One time, I was part of a group where people spoke in parseltongue. We had Harry, Hermione, Prof D (or maybe S) and a few others from Hogwarts. The parseltongue wasn't hereditary, it was devised. It was so special while it lasted. Not something I will ever forget.
Happen to listen to this song ! pal pal dil ke paas tum rahatee ho You dwell forever near my heart jeewan mithhee pyaas ye kahatee ho You call this life a sweet thirst. har shaam aakhon par, teraa aanchal laharaye Every evening, your aanchal/veil flutters over my eyes har raat yaadon kee, baaraat le aaye and every night, a parade of memories begins. mai saans letaa hoo, teree khushboo aatee hai With each breath I draw, I smell your perfume ik mahakaa mahakaa saa, paigaam laatee hai it brings along with it a scented message
This reminds me I've never watched this movie completely! Watched many interviews where stars have talked about it, though.
HP was one prose that no amount of invoking the depths of maternal was enough to make me read beyond 20 pages. Kid just walked in on me reading about Parseltongue in another tab. : ) My explanation could be an entry for a 'Dog ate my homework" competition. Ha!
This song defined romance and romantic for one friend and me in our very early twenties. No youtube then, but, we talked about every word, every scene, every nuance of the song, as we listened to it in my two-in-one (for the younger janta: two-in-one was radio and cassette player in one). I remember her deep sigh, and theatrical pose of arms embracing herself, as she wondered, 'What must it feel like to have someone love you so much!' She went on to have a self-arranged marriage. : ) Not that it matters, but I want to share that bit to avoid any loose end. : ) tum samjhogi deewana, mein bhi iqraar karun (you might think I am mad, and I will agree) iqraar: admit/acknowledge/promise/pledge/confession/aver

Kuchh aur zamana kehta hai (the world advises one way) Kuchh aur hai zid mere dil ki (my heart insists otherwise) Main baat zamaane ki maanun, (should I agree to the world's bidding) Ya baat sunun apane dil ki (or listen to my heart's) Sung by Meena Kapoor, from Chhoti Chhoti Baatein. Chances are you haven't listened to this song. In the lovely voice of Meena Kapoor, music by Anil Biswas (her husband), and lyrics by Shailendra. Movie is about the challenge a man and woman face for their friendship. A retired widower gives away most of his wealth to his children and moves to a village, where he meets an unmarried woman with radical ideas. Their friendship draws the ire of the villagers. In the song, actress Nadira gently laments on the opposition between what her heart wants and the world allows. This is one song whose video is worth watching too. The expressions flitting across her face as she sings the words - a resigned acceptance along with a rueful smile at the circumstances. In the recent past, when I listen to this song, I've come to realize - the first few lines could very well have been sung by quite a few IL ladies, at one point or other in their lives. : )
One of my fav song in my school days whenever i listen to this song i used to wonder do people really write poems once they see people face Now i think they do thanks to road side romeos poems from tamil movies (Main shaayar to nahin - 2 magar aye hanseen Jab se dekha main ne tujh ko mujh ko Shaayari aa gayee) - 2 Mainn aashiq to nahin magar aye haseen Jab se dekhaa main ne tujh ko mujh ko Aashiqi aa gayee Main shaayar to nahin (Pyaar ka naam main ne soona tha magar Pyaar kya hai ye mujh ko nahin thi khabar) - 2 Main to ulajha raha ulajhanon ki tarah Doston main raha dushmanon ki tarah Main dushman to nahin - 2 magar aye haseen Jab se dekhaa main ne tujh ko mujh ko Dosti aa gayee Main shaayar to nahin (Sochata hoo agar main dua maangata Haath apane uthaakar main kya maangata) - 2 Jab se tujh se mohabbat main karane laga Tab se aise ibaadat main karane laga Main qaafir to nahin - 2 magar aye haseen Jab se dekha main ne tujh ko mujh ko Bandagi aa gayee Main shaayar to nahin - 2 magar aye hanseen Jab se dekha main ne tujh ko mujh ko Shaayari aa gayee Main shaayar to nahin
Tum aaye tho aaya mujhe yaad gali mein aaj chand nikla. Your arrived, then I recalled that the moon rose in our street this day. Saw a post by @kaniths and this song, sung by Alka Yagnik, from Zakhm, came to mind. One of Alka Yagnik's most soulful renditions. A beautiful expression of virah (apart), milan (together). Understated yet strong portrayal by Pooja Bhatt, Nagarjuna, and a young Kunal Khemu. Everything is perfect in the song, but the lyrics stand out. Anand Bakshi. Can't believe the movie was made in 1998! A very watchable movie too, also starring Ajay Devgan.
