I was working part time as an admin/clerical before kids. After kids I did not work and my kid is going to be four. So,am planning to restart...I have few doubts..

1)will a long career job hinder in finding a new job?
2)am ready to study further but do not know what..
3)every job posting is asking for 5 or 6 years exp which I do not have..
4)what are some career options for someone who wants to restart a job?

It is so tough to start new after kids..how do I go about it and where to start?

what is your education qualification? Do you want to do post graduation now, it is good idea to study further and start a career based on that degree,

With kids I know several women learned some course and started working and continuing, your determination is the key here.

Do you want to go for IT career? are u ok with programming ? or lot of people are good with Business Analysis jobs ,if programming is not their interest. then you can learn courses , lot of online, self learning is available for IT jobs, if need to a push then u can join some classes

You can do volunteer for some organizations.
    1.
    VolunteerMatch - Where Volunteering Begins

You search for a job/volunteer opportunity , in the search box, go through it , and apply. You can gain experience and you can add this to your resume too.
So keep your long term career goals and do volunteer for such jobs, your goal is to get experience of real time and add it to your resume,

    2.
    Consulting Opportunities | Taproot

go to "select a field", select your area, ex, information technology.
    You can see some opportunities.

Actually this website has good opportunities.

    3. if you want administrative assistant jobs, see this link

San Francisco administrative assistant Volunteer Opportunities

See left side virtual or local check box is there, if you want remote jobs and don't find a local one , start with virtual opportunities.

    All the best.

Another suggestion is to , login with your linkedIn profile. They can see your profile easily.

i registered at volunteermatch.org, I am also new to volunteer, I am trying to build experience for new technology I am changing in IT field. I will share my experiences, and let u know how it is going, if you want to know more.

    hi op
you did not write much about your prev job experience or skillset and qualification and also location.

Yes, It is very difficult to get back to work after a long break. It can be disappointing and disheartening too as it usually takes some time to get a closure and its demotivating to deal with questions related to break.
But good news is women do that a lot and giving reason as "kids care" is considered perfectly valid. It may not land you a job though.
So before job searching, make you mind ready to deal with all kind of questions or people or managers. Also job market has changed and very competitive now. So take up some courses and certifications.
I can tell you about US. Online courses do have some value here. Then spending money on qualification/MBA/MS or any course, definitely helps more.
