let us pay tribute to lyricist and shayar urdu poet Ahmed Faraz on his death anniversary today....

    pls listen here:

Thanks for sharing, sanskruthi. What an immortal ghazal. I have heard it in so many voices, including those of friends and classmates over the years.

A slow Friday brings to mind a slow soothing song by Kishore Kumar:

Aa chal ke tujhe, mein leke chaloon.

Discovered this later than his other songs, perhaps because Vividh Bharati didn't play it much, and Doordarshan came along later. A very hope filled song. Nice to watch too. Kishore Kumar looks, well, looks peaceful and not his usual clowning around. It was the favorite song of a friend's dad who introduced us to many more lesser known treasures. For a while, I thought its lyrics was a Hindi version of Tagore's Where The Mind is Without Fear. I once manually added this to a collection and typed the song's title as Aaa chal ke tujhe... so it ended up being the first song in "All songs." A good song for a shubh-arambh.

Kishore Kumar's voice has a magic that defies words.
