What do you listen to when the blues come visiting? What is your favorite music for those "terrible, horrible, no good, very bad days".

Do you have a song or piece of music that unfailingly soothes your soul, lifts your mood, makes everything better?

Instrumental, metal, rock, religious, electronic, trance, ghazals, classical, movie OSTs -- mood, genre, and language no bar.

Share your go to music when you're feeling down.

I have quite a few favorites. I will share a few at a time. One of my all time favorites is this one that was played in a number of advertisements some years ago. Love the words. Some days it seems like they were written for me.

    Be OK -- Ingrid Michaelson

I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok
I just want to be ok today
I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok
I just want to be ok today

I just want to feel today, feel today, feel today
I just want to feel something today
I just want to feel today, feel today, feel today
I just want to feel something today

    CHORUS:
Open me up and you will see
I'm a gallery of broken hearts
I'm beyond repair, let me be
And give me back my broken parts

I just want to know today, know today, know today
I just want to know something today
I just want to know today, know today, know today
Know that maybe I will be ok

    CHORUS

Just give me back my pieces
Just give them back to me please
Just give me back my pieces
And let me hold my broken parts

I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok
I just want to be ok today
I just want to be ok, be ok, be ok
I just want to be ok today

I just want to feel today, feel today, feel today
I just want to feel something today
I just want to know today, know today, know today
Know that maybe I will be ok
Know that maybe I will be ok
Know that maybe I will be ok

Mine is a playlist of about 20 songs my DD and I created couple of years ago. Mix of Bollywood songs, non-filmi ghazals from 40's to now, some Johnny Cash, and some Loreena McKennitt.

'Hello' has been told to come back in a bit when it tried to join.

Johnny Cash - Man in Black
    Loreena McKennit - Highway Man
Roy Orbison - Every time I look into your loving eyes
Hum Intezaar karenge tera qayamat tak (male)
Tere sang ek simple si coffee
    If Mama ain't happy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WLH2JUj_eXs
Mujh se pehli si mohabbat (recited by Zohra Sehgal, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6SSbjcGWOg
And the above by Faiz himself: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3qvSGpg72SM

It's the memories associated, not the words themselves.

Top is a duet my bachchas performed on one grand piano for a recital. It's considered a family miracle they didn't push each other off the stage. : ) I forget the piece name. Some Beethoven or Mozart or something.

Another long term favorite. A dad's advice to his young daughter. Beautiful words, specifically the highlighted parts. Wisdom that always struck a chord with me.

Mujhse naaraz ho toh ho jao...

Mujhse naaraaz ho toh ho jao, khud se lekin khafa khafa na raho
Mujhse tum dur jao toh jao, aap apne se tum juda na raho
Mujhse naaraaz ho toh ho jao, khud se lekin khafa khafa na raho
Mujhse naaraaz ho toh ho jao...

Mujhse naaraaz ho toh ho jaao

Wherever I may roam by Metallica...
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni0l85GML4w

This is my 'personal anthem'... very inspiring lyrics, especially these lines:

"But I'll take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind anywhere
    And I'll redefine anywhere
    Anywhere I roam
Where I lay my head is home

And the earth becomes my throne
    I adapt to the unknown
    Under wandering stars I've grown
    By myself but not alone...."

Of late, my fave mood enhancers that I've been listening to repeatedly, are:

Dream a little dream of me... Although I love the original by Doris Day, I can't seem to get enough of the Michael Buble version.

Photograph by Ed Sheeran. Pure soul, this one. Love the lyrics. Also love 'Thinking Out Loud' for the same reasons.

Girl on Fire by Alicia Keys. So powerful. This one never fails to pep me up.

The Scientist by Cold Play. A Sky Full of Stars by Cold Play. Actually all songs by Cold Play. Love Chris Martin :)

Chandelier by Sia. Stuck in my mind of late, love it.

A Thousand Years by Christina Perri. Pure mush :)

Fly me to the moon by Frank Sinatra. Transports me to someplace else. Classy.

Titanium by David Guetta. Love the lyrics.

La Vie En Rose (been playing this one on a loop of late)

I'll be there for you - Title track of F.R.I.E.N.D.S (Off topic: I have all 10 seasons on BluRay; they don't make sitcoms like that anymore)
