@Rihana, there's no law that says gifts have to be handed over personally. Have it delivered. :)

It depends on what's their reason for not accepting. If they say, they already have it, maybe something like "Well then you can keep it as this one has some new features.... that is very useful....."
If it is "this is too expensive..." this is easy, "Oh, it doesn't matter. I just wanted to gift you something that you will like and would be useful to you...."
If it is "Don't need it right now" then just say, "I am sure you will like it once you start using it. I have it and I do .... with it".
You made me curious about the gift now. Can you share what's the gift?

Hm, remember this old scene from any Government office in India: If you needed to give bribe money to any officer, and he would pretend-refuse it, then you had to drop it in his open table drawer. It was a crime to TAKE it from your hands, but not a crime to pick it up after you've walked away, you see?

Similarly: "Oh come on, this was bought with just YOU in mind." Leave the gift on her counter, table, whatever and walk away.

Aaargh! These are the type of scenarios which make me hate gifting, especially to so-called friends. And yes, we need to know all the details, backstory of this damn gift please.

A perfume. Story is too long and too blah. Packing for a journey I so wish I didn't have to make. Miles to go before I weep, sleep, deep, peep, beep, reap, leap......

Got some ideas from the posts...

Akanksha, I thought you and I would be a bit cut-ti after God/theism thread. Nice to note the opposite. : ) BTW, the other day I was thinking about Jai Hind story and what the characters must be up to!

wow! Perfume!! Some naughty thoughts come to mind;);)

haha... apna to pichle janam ka naata hai. Mein tuje yuhi assani se nahi chodne wali. Just left it as the discussion is futile and I don't have the time and energy. Did get upset by mod ji's personal accusation without knowing my resume.

On the trip, anxiously waiting for my trip to Alaska on the 5th.
With the EMAs stuff in the air, the story will be come soon in a forum near you.

Love to you my twin sis, @satchitananda

@Akanksha1982, my mind is running riot at the thought of a story from you. Remember, you promised me a story with aliens? Was wondering if aliens and perfumes could feature in a single story! It would be really interesting! :-D

That's a hurtful thing to have to go through.
    Well:
You know it's happening so you're prepared.
*Blank faced, wordlessly receive the gift, no response AT All, and continue with whatever you were doing. This is classy and she/he will be nonplussed.
    * If you must say something, then variations on the theme of:
-"Oh, thanks, I was wondering where that went."
-"Ah, X, true to form. You never disappoint. Thank you."
-"Hmmm, I was sure platinum earrings/cufflinks would be your style, well, I guess not. More for me! Thanks! " (AFTER the box is in your hands.)
-"4 down, 3 to go." (muttered but audible). "Thanks!"
Above responses wishful thinking/after-the-fact dialogue on my part cos I never know what to say on the spot.

I've had this happen to me too. o_O

Tell us what you did finally. I need closure... :grinning:

I will now go pet my dog and forget about people for a bit.
