Simple irish crochet doily

It depends on the time and effort we put....
now Youtube has tutorials for begginers....can pick the basic stitches from that- Use acrylic yarn( yarn used for making caps,sweaters etc )and a 5 mm hook- that would be easier to learn the stitches first.
Then, search for stitch pattern terminology- google has lots of charts
Then try to follow simple patterns- lots of free patterns in all catories are available in crochetpatterncentral.com
Then can move to doilies...using crochet thread and finer hooks
Then the doilies following pattern diagrams...
Then own designs....
