Thank you for clarifying this. It's good to know. You're right. Corruption is a major hurdle everywhere. True that. Yes, I agree. There is a noticeable difference in the standard of living for most people.
This s much less compared to cities and even smaller cites. Where I live, the asking rate of full time maid is minimum 9000. My parents live in smaller city.....they are paying more than this . This is very less. I am paying 700 per job.....takes 15 -20 minutes per job.(4 people) My mother who is living in a smaller city is paying 750-800 per job(2 people)
Far less than what my parents pay in HYD .. its more like 12K + food (3 full square meals) + many more perks like festival tips, festival saris and more which can't be quantified
It depends on city, area, type of residential locality (small apartment / independant house/ very posh apartment complex by top builders). The areas where I stayed previously, we would pay 600 Rs per task...in the locality where I'm staying now the maids are asking 700 Rs per task. Also it may vary here and there, if they sense that the employer is new to the area or new to the city they may try to ask more..if we talk in regional language , esp in their language we can negotiate better.. But this 700 Rs per task and all is just basic estimate..they have additional perks like Diwali bonus which is equivalent to 1 months salary, small festival bonuses, gifts, dresses etc.. Full time maid as far as I know charges min. 9000-10000 Rs and may go upto 15000 Rs + 3 meals, coffee tea snacks etc...The timings will be clearly mentioned during which the maid has to be there, usually 8-10 hrs. Salary is negotiated based on her working hours and responsibilities..
Wages looking lesser than what maids are demanding in metropolitan cities....I think maids would not agree to it....
In private sector maternity leaves benefits are given only 2 times and leaves are for 3 months..so I guess same should apply for the maids too....it's a good initiative....
Very good , 3 months . I don't think now a days they are going for more than 2 kids. There is awareness. And they r sending kids to private schools. If the mother Is firm in good upbringing of kids , and willingness to do that, the kids will be fine.
@yellowmango, @indoc, @generic, @coolgal123 and @KashmirFlower, thanks so much for all the information. I think setting a minimum wage is a step in the right direction. I hope it works out in practice.
setting minimum pay is good.. but what about minimum duties & responsibilities? Is govt planning to do anything like that?
