Hi, About 3 weeks ago I let her eat independently. Then slowly she started rejecting after few bites of food. Now she won't allow me to touch the spoon. What do you do? Do you prefer feeding or let them eat independently? Which way is best? .. Sweety
It depends. I mean, mine can eat independently, including soups. However, there are times she wants me to feed her (after a long day or when too tired or when she was missing me etc). What I feel is, during weekdays, it works out good for me when she eats on her own, with me in the kitchen cooking and taking to her. On weekends, we both like it when I feed her with my hands.
I am even finding it difficult with my son to eat independently. He eats snacks(like chips, cookies )etc. But rice, idli & banana, I have to feed him. He is now 3.5 yrs old & stays with me at home, prefers me to feed him. In august he has to go to Pre-k, hoping that after going to school he may eat independently.
my daughter also eat independently per her mood. Some time she wants me or DH to feed her, she says if she wants to eat herself or who feed her. She goes to a daycare where she is eating herself from the age of 1 year.
Right now, we are having a practice of 50-50. I will give her a cup and she will eat while I also give her mouthfuls in the middle.. She knows to use a spoon and also to eat with hand.. This is just to speed up the time taken to finish the meal.. Somedays she doesn't like me to feed her..
hi I also think making them eat Independently is the best. It saves a ton of time. but not all things they can eat independently like dal chawal /curd rice etc other things its okie if they eat it independently
