My Hubby and DD hates pongal, and with kishoremommy's recipes, both of them have started liking vadas and pongal both!! Vada takes little more oil, but it stays crispy and soft the whole day! Thanks so much!!

MEDHU VADAI / ULUNDU VADAI ,SAKKARAI PONGAL | RAK'S KITCHEN

The video given in this link is really helpful.

This shows the right consistency for vada batter.

    Dear Brb_va,

Try to reduce the water amount. The quality of urad dal is also important.

Add salt, along with the dal itself.Adding onions makes the batter watery.Once,I made vada like this suggested by my neighbour, who shared me this recipe.

After grinding urad dal with salt,I added whole pepper, asfoetide and jeera. Then cornflour and rice flour.

It was nice just like tea shop vadai.I made this chutney too.

Fry the following items one by one in a spoon of oil.Urad dal --2 spoons, red chilly --2, shallots---10, tomato--3 medium sized,Ginger --an inch size, coconut scrapings---2 spoons.

Along with a small bit of tamarind and salt grind into a paste.

This chutney goes well with Vada.
