    My dear Sudha !

Yet a few very simple payasams are atta kheer, bread payesh etc. They can be made very quickly, with always available ingredients !
    Thankyou for the F B, Sudha !
    Love & regards,

    Doubt in cooking paasiparuppu(moong)

    Dear Chitvish,

I have a doubt in cooking paasiparuppu (moong dhal). I am referring to the split yellow moong dhal, not the whole payaru.

I have tried cooking this in pressure pan after slightly roasting it and adding water in the proportion of 3:1 - 3 cups of water to 1 cup paruppu.
It always turns out to be very thick. If I cut down the cooking time i.e. switch off after 1 whistle, the paruppu is not cooked properly. Even when it gets cooked well, the paruppu does not get mashed well. I have tried adding vegs later and along with the dhal. Both cases it is still thick.

I went through your cooking dhals and gotsus postings, still I have trouble.
What could be wrong? Is it the quality of the dhal? Kindly let me know.

    Malar

    My dear Malar !

It is always better to soak lightly roasted Paasiparuppu in hot water for 30 mts, minimum. If 3 :1, is very thick, the paruppu quality is different. So add 1/2-1 cup more of water.
I soak in hot water for 30 mts & cook it directly in the pressure pan. It is "malara" cooked in 1 whistle. Thereafter I add the vegetables. Try this.
    Love & regards,
    Chithra.

Quick reply for the fast food items!!!

    Hi Mrs.Chithra,

Yes., tried out pav baaji, and my hub did not leave any baaji. We all loved it and the inclusion of methi powder, not only enhances the tastes, also, stays in our mouth & stomach!!!

And, made akki roti, everything was fine; but a few came out little dry. Where I went wrong?

    Thanks once again.

Yes, you can use the lapsi idli for idli series.
With the same dough, you can make Lapsi Kanchipuram Idli - I will post in tips. I make adai also, will post it. You can make pongal just like rava pongal.
    Thankyou for the F B, Radha !

    White gravy-soft, but superb taste

    Hi Mrs.Chithra,

Have noticed this many times, somehow, did not interest me..But, today, my instinct told me to try and hence, began my experiment. Wow, addition of milk made a big change or the PK ingredient?? I added avarakai & surakkai as knolkhol is not available here. Still, it was simply great.

Hereafter, will make this poritha kuzhambu every friday, until I get bored!!!!

    Rgds
