    My mother used to wash the silver as well as copper items for pooja using the ash that comes from burning agarbattis.I use the same method.I collect all the ash into a small container and use it to wash the items once a week with it.Other times I use just vim liquid.You have to rub the dry ash on the items once they are washed with soap.The silver and copper items shine like new.

    Hi friends,when I bought a small silver cup the seller said cleaning silver with Colgate powder not paste brings sparkling color.

    U have to ck the shop where u bought for repolising ,as temple Jewellery r coated with gold polish ,I think u cannot wash with any powder ,when I bought a small idol from a shop one gram gold they said for repolising u have to bring it to us .so same thing for temple jewellery ,I am having temple jewellery which was bought for my daughter arengetram but they r all not original so the color is same as we bought covering gold.

    These are great tips! I also heard that applying toothpaste or simply dipping silver in detergent water helps it shine like new again...

    Yes Colgate paste or powder works good. Even the jewelers use the same tip.
