We here are suffering so much because of dust , and allergic problems have become a routine. I have heard that humidifiers reduce allergy related problems . Does anyone use a humidifier at home ? how good is Air Purifier when compared to humidifiers? I searched on Google and found information on this , but if I can get reviews from users it would be better. Finally which brand of these do you recommend? thanks in advance......
I use a humidifier in winter when there isn't much rains and air is very dry. It really does help. I normally put it on a few hours before bed and leave it on the whole night. I have never used an air purifier. I'm not sure on the brands that you have in UAE but mine is a Carmen Health. I have the one that has a tray for essential oils as well. I sometimes add a few drops. Adds a very nice aroma in the room. Hope this info helps. Good luck.
Thanks for your replies ladies ..... I think we here need an air purifier to stay away from allergens and dust . thanks
hi, When in India, we had used air purifier for quite some time. My son was young , around 2.5 years, so it helped him from repeatedly falling sick , especially during winter. I think the brand / the model we had was ion pro. We moved to USA when he was 4.5, and didn't feel the need for air purifiers.Instead, we had used a humidifier for obvious reasons. While an air purifier controls the microbial population, the humidifier supplies the required humidity for the body.
Thanks Sabari for your reply . Dust mites are in abundance in UAE.These too are known allergens. Unfortunately these thrive well in humid climate , and so a humidifier can be a boon for them. So I am being a bit careful in choosing which one to buy.
if dust mites are a problem, u may want to choose pillows and mattresses , which are free from those. I've seen such types here . U sh'd be able to find one there too.
If you have a lot of dust mites, you need to vacuum a lot and do a really good jobe routinely on the mattresses. Limit number of rugs. You can also kill them by using a steamer. Air purifiers are good if you have allergies but all of them you have to listen to them blowing which is irritating. Hepa filter ones are better than just carbon filter models. Just an interjection to the thread....the infrared heaters that are sold here have air cleaners in them that kill all the germs/bacteria and clean out allergens....a nice addition to the heating that they do.
