    Hello Ladies,

I'm very new to IL and was quite surprised to see this virtual community which helps people get together. I'm currently settled in Australia and my hubby dear has just received a new job offer in Malaysia. Its a huge call for me to relocate but I guess instead of getting nervous I thought I'll check more about the life there. Can anyone tell me what a good suburb\area to settle in with family near KL. I'm interested in a suburb which is safe place to live, close to International schools and most importantly have a Indian community to socialise. From my research I understand that getting a work visa for spouses is close to impossible in Malaysia...but is there anyone who has managed to crack this? I would also like to understand how do you ladies keep yourself occupied..

I hope I have not asked too much but any response is most appreciated.

    Thanks
    PR

    Hi Preeti,

I am a Malaysian Indian. Welcome to Malaysia dear. U need not to worry since in Malaysia especially KL there are many Indians. I studied in NSW so i can tell u tat u'll see more Indians in KL than Sydney :) If you wanna stay in a very "indianized" place then i would suggest Brickfields area as this place is called "little India'. There s n International school there. U can even try Petaling Jaya, Bangsar area. Regarding the visa i'm not sure since i'm a local and never bothered about the visa. Once you are here, u can get a job if you want or there r a lot of temples and shopping complexes here that can keep u occupied. Sorry i can't help u much since i'm not residing in KL . Hope this piece of info helps a little. thanks.

    RAMYAH

Regarding getting a work in KL, its a bit difficult, but you can crack it with patience and persistence!
Lots of companies would not like to hire an expat.. but sure its possible/ and done easily in IT companies in Cyber jaya.

When you want, indian community, nice place, international school - Brickfields is the only option.. Though, you have many other nice places, with Indian community, you cant find International schools there!

People keep busy with ? I am unsure how.. got lots of temples, shopping malls, etc.. but how long can you be shopping??!!

May be pursue with some hobbies, reading books, and of course the Internet! Also, you can see TV! or House work and Sleep..... Unsure how to answer this..

Think well and decide.. You can always enjoy with the change of place..Good luck!

    Welcome to Malaysia,
Yes, Brickfields is the best choice if you want truly Indian community. International schools; just google out. They are many in KL. You can meet Indians all over Malaysia.
