    Dear Chithramma,
Could you please guide me with the possible dishes with leftover rice. If today's night rice is excess, I make pongal as breakfast the next day morning.
Sorry. I didn't know if you have mentioned about it already. Thanks in advance.
    Love,
    Hema.

    Dear Chithramma,

Tried your Kovakkai podi potta curry yesterday and my DH response was "superro suuuuper" So again for dinner the same day I had to make it once more, this time with small brinjals. That too came out very well. Now he is suggesting me to make the powder ahead for a week a keep it in fridge. He loves it so much. Thank you once again for the recipe.

    Love,

    Mrs.

    Dear Chithramma,

the chickpea salad turned out very well. Even the dressing was scooped out given there were about 12 other salads in the buffet:)

I have a doubt on tuvaram paruppu. This time i didn't get the regular one so bought oily toovar dal. it cooked really well (nanna masinji) but want to know what oil is applied. i googled but couldn't find any answer. Can i continue using that?

    Latha,

It's castor oil on the dhal.

    Maami,

Last evening I made Malabar kootu curry and we all enjoyed it and the bowl was licked clean. For the pulse, I used chick peas and the kootu curry was very creamy.

Very nice to see the ice cream parade and I'm planning to try the condensed milk method. Taste wise, which one is better, condensed milk method or the 1st method?

    Love.

Latha, castor oil is applied on dhals to prevent insects attacking it. In fact, I used to do it when I was buying dhal annually. I have given in the jiffy menu also to add 2-3 drops of castor oil to cook the dhal soft.
In fact I do it to red chilli powder also. Please goto

    Thanks for the FB :)
Tastewise both are good. The first is light & economical.

oh such a nice tip Chithramma. I add only gingelly oil to paruppu while cooking. this definitely makes the dhal nice and mashed. so i'll buy oiled paruppu without hesitation:)

we're moving. the house is full of cartons. i packed the kitchen as well with ore sob sob. i cannot cook at least until thursday. will be back in action sincerely as i found what all needs to be used up fast:)
