I was carrying my 10 week old DD on sholder burp position in park yesterday, Some lady told me not to carry baby that way till baby rolls over, as there may be some spinal issues. She should always be held flat in lying position. How far is this true?

My son has always wanted to be carried up. He HATEs being flat & cries. So he enjoys looking around at the world & gets bored just looking at sky or ceiling.

Its fine to carry the baby that way as long as you are supporting the head/neck with one hand. Thats the only way I've ever carried my DS from the day he was born and he's fine (he's 3 and a half now). People give all sorts of advice - dont worry about it.

My MIL was saying this right from beginning, but I ignored it saying its a myth and my DD always calms immediately when she is held upright.
After this lady told not to holder burp position, she started with "I TOLD U SO" saga.
I was feeling guilty about it. Thank you all I am so relieved.
