    i think ....the chicken is cut by the muslim method...called halal....muslims eat only halal chicken.....in older days...they give little water to the chicken b4 they cut the chicken ...then the man who is going to cut will pray for the chicken then they cut the chicken....nowadays no one is doing like this.....just name only....

    why they r doing like this is they are giving food even a chicken (or goat) which is going to die...also they pray for the aathma of the chicken to take rest....

    this was told by one of my muslim friend....i do't know it's true or wrong...friends pls tell your suggestion...

    @shini :thumbsup

    Halal is one of the Islamic Law that tells the proper method of slaughtering an animal for consumption..

    Scientifically A nice way of cutting to remain blood inside the body so that it acts on germs.

    halal meat is cut according to islamic norms taking the name of Allah and the windpipe of the animal is only cut not the whole neck and due to this all the blood is flushed out and only meat is left since the blood is haraam or forbidden in islam. the jews also practice similar type of method to slaughter its called kosher meat

    Halal means permitted in literal sense. There is physical aspect and spiritual aspect to it. The basic rule is to salughter the (permitted animal) in such a manner as to cut the wind pipe and not damage the spinal chord. Also this is to be done in a quick stroke and half. Retaining the spinal chord enables the blood to be pumped out of the body. Blood carries lots of contaminants so is not considered health and also consumption of blood is prohibited as per Islam.
    Many countries including US and European countries follow this method now a days to ensure proper drainage of blood. Traditionally some Mexican communities and Vietnamese follow this method.
    The spiritual aspect of this is something akin to saying ' In the name of God ' the intent is not to bless the animal but to serve as a reminder and thanksgiving to the Lord that talking of life of an living being is with his permission as he has permitted(made it Halal) it for purpose of eating it. Killing of animals for hunting/pleasure is prohibited by Islam.
    There are other aspects of Halal not commonly know. One is that animal is not starved prior to slaughter, Those who are under stress of traveling long distances have to be given 2-3 days to recover. An animal which is happens to eat its own excrement due to lack of food cannot be slaughtered till it recovers from starvation, Pregnant animals(birds dont fall in this category), also animals which have been fed any form of diet which is considered unnatural and dirty like sewer wastes, animals which are fed meat/meat products from other animals or of same species(This became important in discovery of Mad Cow Disease).

    Not all animals are considered Halal(permitted for consumption eg goat, cow, buffalo, chicken, camel, Duck etc and not Pig and animals which are carnivorous like dogs, cats, tigers etc. )
