    Hi Ladies,

    Yet again, need your suggestions.

I would like to carry some useful kitchen gadgets from here (if available) to india.. Pls pour in your suggestions. I am not looking for like very hi-fi ones, but something like choppers / slicers / spice grinders etc. Something that is of use quite often in Indian cooking?
Is spice grinder/coffee grinder really useful?

I got Mr.Coffee and did not like it, so returned, like it was pretty tough to clean and not grinding so fine, Not sure if I dint know to use or whatever :bonk

And I do see some chopper kind of stuff, but not really sure if they are really useful or "rarely" useful :bonk.

    Help me out... :bowdown

A mandoline (for slicing/shredding), manual food chopper, santuko knives and good knife sharpener, the good quality stainless steel egg beater (the kind with a crank), slilicon spatulas, the new "green" plastic containers so fruits/veg stay fresh longer, easy read thermometer (good for making paneer),.

Hey , do you have this Mandoline slicer ? which brand is it ? seeing this on QVC / As seen on tv , I was so eager to buy, but Amazon has some bad reviews about this. Ppl say they cut their fingers quite often with this.
    is it true ?

I wanted to get the review directly from someone who is using this.

I would say can opener, slicer, knife sharpener, cookie cutter, popsicle moulds (useful for making kulfis) and if you are interested in baking then some bake-ware, a whisk, electric hand mixer, pastry bags with a few tips.

I only have the world's cheapest one that I paid $5 for but it works fine but only a couple settings. I just use it for slicing potatoes or cucumbers but you must use the guard with it. One can also get a special glove to protect your fingers (looks like a knitted winter glove) and I would advise getting that. For big grating jobs I use the attachment on my KitchenAid mixer. The KitchenAid mixer with attachment pack would be so good in India (with a converter...don't know if they sell a 240v model) but it would have very heavy/bulky to take and also its pricey. But you can easily make bread dough of any type with it, cakes, food grinder, food mill, etc.
