Basic Paste - To make cooking easy

    hi krishnamma,

    another interesting thread. just wanted to know if the pulikachal paste that was mentioned is the iyengar style of pulikachal... thanx for sharing.

    You are amazing. :thumbsupI wonder how you are able to answer so many queries. Hats off to you:bowdown:bowdown
    I have a small query. I saw your basic gravy recipe. If i need to cook for 4 to 5 people, how much of this gravy should i add, i mean how many spoons of this. Can you please clarify this for me.

    Hi dear,

    It is depending upon your quantity no? if you are going to prepare 2 , 3 side dishes means you can use less. If you are going to make one dish means you have to use more. so please see the quantity and use . ok ya?

    Tomato Sauce 1

    Ingredients:

    1 kg Tomato
    1 Cup sugar
    1/2 - 1 tsp Red chilly powder
    4 Garlic flakes
    2 " Ginger
    Salt to taste

    Method:


    Peel the tomatoes and remove seeds.
    Cut it into pieces.
    Chop the garlic and ginger.
    Mix tomatoes with ginger and garlic.
    Cook the mixture till it turns smooth.
    Add salt, sugar and red chilly powder.
    Cook it for 5 minutes.
    Run it in a food processor smoothly.
    No need to add colors.
    Tomato Sauce is ready.

    Tomato Sauce 2

    <style></style>500 grams tomatoes
    1 medium onion
    4 - 5 garlic
    1 bay leaf
    salt and pepper as per your taste (optional)
    2 tablespoons olive oil
    1 cup water

    Peel and remove seed from tomatoes.
    Chop them.
    Chop the garlic.
    Chop the onion also.
    In a deep pan, heat oil and then fry the onion till soft and transparent.
    Add garlic and cook for 5 minutes.
    Now add the chopped tomatoes, salt, pepper and bay leaf.
    Then reduce the flame.
    And let it boil for around 10 minutes.
    Stir the mixture now and then.
    Pour in the water.
    Keep in sim for another 10 minutes.
    Now remove the cooking vessel from the stove.
    And allow it to cool.
    Puree in a food processor or run through a sieve.
    Return to heat and reduce it till reaches desired thickness.
    Enjoy your Tomato sause.
    You can keep this for a week if you keep in fridge.
    If you keep in Freezer, you can keep it for 3 months.:thumbsup
