Frankfurt Folks! Hi, I recently remember seeing new members registered living in England, Germany, etc. How are you ladies? Why don't you all post some messages about yourselves and how things are with you all living in Europe? It will be good to hear from you all.
Living in Frankfurt, Germany Hi Manju, Just saw your post and realised that you are in UK? How is it living there and how long since you have been there. I have been here from the past 6 years. I have a daughter 18 years old and has joined the university. My husband moved here heading a software orgn, straight from the heart of chennai. i am a Bangaloren, since i studied there and my parents still live there. I am teaching bharatnatyam on weekends here since i was a active performer, and that keeps me busy and active and have good contact with the indian community and also germans. we do a lot of shows since my daughter also loves dancing. Otherwise the winters are very depressing unless i consciously make an effort to keep in touch with people. Frankfurt is a nice place, i stay a liitle away in the Taunus or mountain area, surrounded by nature, very peaceful and beautiful. Now that i have a lot of time i browse a lot on the net . What about you..... regards, sudha.
Hello Sudha Hello Sudha, Thank you for your message. I have seen many members here living in the US and India, but got excited when I saw few members living in Europe too. Hence I posted my earlier message for them. Good that you replied. Yeah...we are living in Eastham, Merseyside in UK. My husband works for an automobile company here and I have a daughter who is 1 year and few months. I am here since I got married (close to 3 years) and am originally from Kerala. Life in the UK is going on Ok, except that I miss people back in India. I have made few friends here...most of them are Srilankans in the place we live, very friendly and respectful people. As you rightly said, cold is depressing, makes it tough to move around especially with the kid and so many things to put on to keep warm!
Re: Frankfurt Folks! Hello ladies, Could someone let me know, where in frankfurt or Hamburg i can buy Indian groceries? Thanks a lot and your help is much appreciated. Thanks kb2000
Re: Frankfurt Folks! Dear Kb2000.... There are many good Indian shops in Hamburg that sell gorceries, dvds and cds etc. I can see all of them in my mind!! But I am right now unable to give you the exact locations of them. I will check out to see if any of my old memos have their addresses and if I do find them, shall pm them to you. Meanwhile, I can only give you a vague idea. When you get out of the Hauptbahnhof in Hamburg from the rear side, you should ask for a street called Langereihe. It will be to your left. Once you get there, to the beginning of the street itself, to your left side again, you will find a small Indian restaurant and an Indian grocer right next to it. They are run by Sikh owners. Actually, this Langereihe is a famous street and is full of exotic shops from all over the world. Further down, there are other shops too that sell Indian groceries. But the biggest one is very close to it, almost parallel to that street in a small, narrow street. That is more like a warehouse and also run by Sikh owners. Your best bet would be to keep asking all the Indians you may see around with your enquiries. One or the other must answer you and help out Best of luck. L, Kamla
Dear KB 2000, Sorry i had missed raeding this post..... Do u still need the addresses for groceries..... There are plenty of srilankan , indian and paki shops in the main station area in Frankfurt...street names are, Kaiser strasse, Munchener strasse , Taunus strasse....all these streets are parallel to each other and there are plenty of them .
