Cheer - IVF is invitro fertilization
Vanmathi - get a good ob/gyn, you have to find a obstetrician as they specialize in delivering babies while gynecologist just deals with routine check-up for women (they cannot perform surgeries). You don't need a pediatrician until the child is born, most often your ob/gyn will have good referrals. Over the counter kits like first response & EPT (error proof test) are reliable tests for pregnancy. Congrats & good luck.

    Hi

I am surprised same time not very happy to see so many people having this PCOS. According to lab tests I dont have PCOS but I have all the symptoms of PCOS (irregular periods, facial hair, weight gain, hair loss)
Been trying to conceive for past 1.5 years . stoppd taking metformin for the past 1 month since I was feeling nauseaos all the time and was not able to work properly. Clomid dint help too. Got to meet RE this month end.

Apart from that I am telling slokhas which I took from the spritual discussion. Above all, having faith would only help to pass through this situation.

    Geetha

    hi friends,

can the PCOs conceive???? And will each PCO have a problem in conceiving even if there is a minor irregularity in menstruation (ie) menstruation postponed by one week but occurs every month???

Today i was reading in another forum abt "Cinammon supplement", anybody know anything abt that??? i heard that Cinnamon aids in the metabolization of sugar. Since insulin resistance is a common side effect of PCOS(sugars get stored as fat instead of being stored for energy) cinnamon helps some of us by aiding in the sugars being metabolized the way they should be instead of being stored as fat...resulting (in some of us)in unwanted belly fat.

Anybody have any information abt it???? Do share.

    Hi

Can any one help me. I too have PCO and this month I got my periods delayed by more than 50 days. Now i got and it is very painful. Last week my dr had asked me to do an u/s and found that i had some 5 to 6 cyst on my right ovaries. she said that it will be more helpful if a laproscopy is dont to make my fertility better. I am in 1 dose of Metformin.
I had done last year june one lapro to find the reason for my 2 misscarriages. At that time they just said my ovaries were enlarged and said may be polycystic in india. When i came back i was in metformin 2 dose till march then dr reduced to 1 dose as my periods were normal. So now this month this delay.
I have my next meeting next week with the dr. So please someone suggest me if Lapro will be needed. I dont want to undergo it again.

Okey i did research i found out abt PCO's & Cinnamon, hopefully helpful to us-

    Treating Insulin Resistance with Cinnamon
Cinnamon may be a very useful herb for treating the insulin resistance that frequently accompanies polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS). Several new studies indicate that this delicious spice can lower blood glucose levels. This is not a new finding, but the recent studies help us to better understand how it works.
A recent press release from the University of California, Santa Barbara stated, "Cinnamon may be more than a spice – it may have a medical application in preventing and combating diabetes. Cinnamon may help by playing the role of an insulin substitute in type II diabetes, according to cellular and molecular studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara, Iowa State University and the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

‘Cinnamon itself has insulin-like activity and also can potentiate the activity of insulin,’ said Don Graves of UCSB. ‘The latter could be quite important in treating those with type II diabetes. Cinnamon has a bio-active component that we believe has the potential to prevent or overcome diabetes.’ Women who suffer from polycystic ovarian syndrome nearly always benefit from treatments for insulin resistance-whether or not they are diagnosed as insulin resistant. Further, the risk of developing diabetes is nearly 40% for women with PCOS-a very good reason to work to improve your insulin response."
Study dosages ranged from ¼ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon per day for type 2 diabetics, but more research is needed about effective amounts for those with insulin resistance. The active chemical is MHCP or methylhydroxychalcone polymer. This chemical is found in all types of cinnamon sold as a spice in the U.S. In the U.S. Cinnamomum cassia is legally sold as cinnamon. However, true cinnamon is Cinnamomum zeylanicum, or Cinnamomum verum.
MHCP has been shown to lower blood glucose levels, triglycerides and LDL cholesterol. Insuline resistance causes elevated blood glucose, triglycerides and LDL cholesterol. It is also an antioxidant. This is important because women with PCOS are more susceptible to the effects of the breakdown of cells due to oxidation.

The potential benefits of cinnamon are enormous when you consider how inexpensive it is. Many people who can not afford expensive drugs to treat insulin resistance or diabetes may one day be treated with cinnamon.

As always, talk to your health care practitioner and do not take anything while you are pregnant without clearing it with your doctor.
