Mid-week update. Feb 17 - 20 went well. 15-16 hrs with water and 1/2 cup of green tea.

I have to better organize my evening. I cook 5-8 dishes in the weekend. If I am cooking one extra dish for a sick or picky family member on a weekday evening, I am forgetting to start having my own dinner by 6:45 pm latest.

I am still surprised at being able to do regular 25-40 minutes exercise each weekday around 7 am (4-5 hours before ending fast.)

Most glad that I did not get the headaches I was dreading.

On a lighter note: after reading about how humans can easily go for hours and days without food, I am kicking myself for fretting over kid not eating dinner or lunch properly one time. : ) When they were younger, how many times I left my own dinner and made another thing just so kid would not go to bed without dinner. LOL.

true. I felt the same. Even nowadays after I started IF, I am not compelling my kids to eat full meal. It’s stressful when they don’t eat and we prepare different food for them. Nowadays even if they eat two or three spoon, fine. If they hungry, they will let me know. Mostly they don’t ask.

Past two days ,I not feeling even I am close to fasting end period. Planning to try 18:6 IF ,if I can. Evening mostly I am eating before 6.30 pm. By sleeping time, I feel hungry but I drink water and sleep. Next day, I eat after 11 or 11.30 am.

Recently I noticed that my weight gain or loss is based on my dinner food. When I have cheat days or having junk food. I eat in simple eat omelette or juice as my dinner. I felt no weight gain next day. Also when we have outside food or junk food, we feel full so having heavy dinner makes us feel more full and bloated.

Have to try to push dinner little early. Makes it easy to digest.
I have started exactly on Jan 31st and I was thinking I wasn’t loosing at all. I lost around 3.5lbs in four weeks. Every week a pound, the scale we have at home has problems reading correctly once I figured out. I feel relieved... IF is working, have to incorporate some exercise too to see more results.
Weekends I’m eating around 1pm. And dinner around 8, so it’s giving me 17hr fasting time. Try steaming up broccoli carrots and keep munching during 7-8hr window. It might help w less bloat

Better avoid, Indian buffets and junk. I saw eating out Is the culprit. So much oil and sugars it’s only bad for u. I observed whites do come to buffet and have salads and one item and they’re done. While we get tempted and load up w every item into our plate. At least in my case when I see variety of food I like to try everything little. At least taste... and this thinking shall change. Eat how much ur body needs, more than that will cause uneasiness.

I’m still making my coffee w 1ounce of 2%milk and water. It’s working fine for me. Or else I cannot handle the coffee. U can use milk but in little qtty I don’t think that little milk will consider as fat to break the fast.

Yeah but I have big mug of milk coffee. That’s the problem. If it is black coffee without sugar ,it will b 1/4 cup. In weekend ,I will try to avoid or have it in little.

I started rowing last November the day before Thanksgiving. I was overweight, high blood pressure with lousy blood tests. Oh yes - I tested for diabetes for the first time. [IMG]

I've had a rower for quite some time, but kind of lost interest in rowing and exercise for quite a while. However, it's interesting that the one thing that you feel like doing least (exercising) is the one thing that can make you feel better and save your life.

The bad diagnose(s) probably saved my life. I decided that I would lose weight over the holidays (rather than gain it as usual). I started a three prong approach:

    1. eat properly (not a diet) - I went to classes at a local hospital (dieticition) for three different sessioons. This is for diabetics, but will work for anyone. Just a lifestyle change when it comes to eating.
    2. started rowing: I joined a rowing challenge (Lunatics) and really rowed a lot. This got my metabolism going and really burned a lot of calories.
    3. joined a new gym: yep - the new atmosphere really stimulates me. It has a good exercise area, hot tub and pool. Costs more money than just a "golds-type" gym, but I'd rather pay the extra money there than at the doctors. I'm on a regular program that builds muscle. Muscle burns more fat at rest. Thus, I burn more calories than before.

With this approach, I lost 30 pounds in just a few months and have lost a total of 60 pounds totally. I've slacked off during the summer and will start rowing again real soon. I feel that the rower is the best weight loss tool of all.

Oh yes - forgot one thing. I got a new walking partner (English Cocker Spaniel). Not only do I have a new friend (and family member), but he gets me walking at least twice a day. Fun time.

I'm now within normal weight for me, my diabetes is under contorl and my cholesterol is down to 130 (the lowest in my life). No more high BP!

Cross training with the rower works. More Detail
