    I need to lose 10 kg also.
    Starting Jan 8, 2020 - I plan to follow the recent research on weight loss. Eating during the day only in 8 hour period. I prefer to eat only between 12 noon - 7 pm.

    Thanks for sharing your delicious recipe. I love to eat ulava gugillu too but we must eat it in small amounts as it produces excess body heat. I mixed both moong n horse gram sprouts to make a chatpata chat. I heard black horse gram is more effective in giving weight loss results.

    where can you buy black horse gram in US. On Amazon it is priced ridiculously high $32 for 250 grams which in India costs only Rs 80. I get it, costs will be higher in US. Perhaps, we all can put a request in to Patel Brothers to carry this item?

    Yes it’s expensive on Amazon.I couldn’t find it at my local Indian store but I did see it sometime ago. I am using the regular brown horse gram, even though it’s not as effective as the black variety it works. Adding an extra 10 mins workout to your regular workout helps too.

    I did find a research on horse gram and the result -"horse gram, either boiled or unboiled, acts as an antiinflammatory and an antioxidant, whereas black horse gram, both with skin and without skin, supplementation possesses a proinflammatory and prooxidant effect. The ancient treatment regime of Ayurveda suggests including horse gram in the daily diet of arthritic patients, while black horse gram has to be excluded from their diet."
    Perhaps, it is better to use the regular non-black horse gram.

    I saw a remedy posted by Dr Elchuri a famous Ayurvedic physician, his patient claimed to have lost weight by consuming a small amount of softly boiled black horse gram for 40 days.I gathered that the black variety works more efficient in giving weight loss results. @Bambli posted a Siddhayar’s recipe using horsegram and cumin seeds in IL horse gram dal for weight lose I am not sure if that recipe calls for using the regular one or black variety.

    Nevertheless when we create a calories deficit we lose weight. I believe in combing all these - portion sizing the food, keeping the dinner light,working out 5 days a week and adding horse gram to our diet with lots of buttermilk and barley water.

    A blogger shared her horse gram soup recipe. The recipe calls for soaking 30 gm horse gram in water overnight.cook the beans in 500 ml of water till soft and mash them well.Filter the soup and season it with a pinch of cumin powder ,rock salt and pepper powder.It is ideal to drink this soup in winter as it produces body heat.She suggests reducing the quantity in summer.Beginners can start with 15 gm and gradually increase the quantity to 50 gm.

    Hi All,

    I would like to join this journey now.My current weight is 63.2kg and i'm having a target to reduce 5kg and be 58kg by June 2020.
    My food intake :
    Morning : 1 coffee and some exercise
    Lunch : 1/2 cup rice with knolkhol sambar and snakegourd curry
    Evening : 1 coffee
    Dinner - 4 Idlies.

    Hello all
    I want to loose 7 kgs.
    I gained little bit weight after delivery.
    So need to control my food intake..
    Nd I am breastfeeding to my 1 yr old.
    Not possible to do walking nd workouts with 2 small kids. Just doing House hold works.
    Now my eating habits is
    Morning eating spourts , No idly,dosa or upma just pearl millet roti or sorghum roti nd having small cup of tea.
    Lunch is eating rice with more curry nd with curd.
    Dinner is roti or moondal dosa.
    Avoiding Rice items nd junk foods, sweets..
    With all
    Nd with small changes in my diet
    I lost 2.5 kg in a month.
    I did intermittent fasting just one week, 16:8
    But with 2 small kids not possible to follow the time schedule. So again planning to do.
