If its contracting... will the tax slay so much?.. I don't know how it works in the US but here the contractors pay only around 25% tax running their own company with 1 employee.

Yeah you can hire a helicopter to sprinkle flowers on Ganesh ji or hire a private jet to go on a holiday.. or hire a high end photographer to make a calendar session with a hired designer to design gowns...I have known families who did the last two..kinda remote friends...

Making lots of money at 37 is a good thing. The figure quoted is entirely possible. However, wives should not go around distributing information on things that other people do not need to know. Now the information is all over the internet. Someone jealous might start a rumor that Mrs.Richfella is only biding her time for the right set of circumstances to keep the money and get rid of the toiling slug.

If someone is not working at any job that requires periodical performance appraisals, is healthy, and has a comfortable income -- that is the life one should hope for. Our OP already has achieved all that.

A lot of people in this age group have made that kind of money, especially being in start ups that made it big or working at FAANG, where they might throw stocks at people they want to retain like nobody's business.

Not surprising at all that someone makes that kind of money. Yes, it is kind of strange that she would come and share that information with you!!

What you mentioned is a recent trend in healthcare-here, where the physician is ahis/her own company and is contracting with the hospital.
But I would like to think that for a long term stable (upward mobile) physician will like to be an employee instead of contractor.

I think, the happiness in life comes from sense of purpose in life. If someone is wife of such rich husband, does she have a strong purpose in life. If not she might wilt away. Not every women is Melinda Gates. It is a curse to be a wife to such rich guy, imho. Look at divorced MacKenzie Bezos. She wasted her youth building his company, his life, his children, his ego, must have hosted ILs too for thanksgiving. Now, where is she? Rich ya, but he got the cake.

I have been very lucky to have some very wise friends over the years. One such friend had known this long back- the happiness comes when the wife keeps on moving her limbs doing her daily stuff and while having a purpose in life. If she has food, clothes, some spare money and love of husband and family- then she is blessed, she needs no more money

    True...

In that case..I have a wonderful hubby, kid, cute home, food, spare money and good health.

Honestly,I got jealous when my friend mentioned that amount....Infact felt disappointed for a while...then I realized maybe am Rich my own way with the above mentioned...I may never travel first class in flight and can never afford certain luxuries but I do have the above you had mentioned..should keep repeating it to myself time and again:)

I agree with the sense of purpose needed in life... that is always needed, even in retirement. But, what is wrong with where MacKenzie is now? Hopefully, most of the 25 years marriage were good. They had a dream, moved to Seattle leaving cushy jobs or something. When he was set up on blind dates by friends, his criteria was that he wanted a truly resourceful woman for his wife: "I wanted a woman who could get me out of a third-world prison." Just because he fell for another woman, cheated while married, put them through the humiliation of a public airing of their dirty laundry, it doesn't mean she has wilted away or "where is she now."

    My 2c about a woman worth billions. : )
