You can try variations in chapatis too, add avocado paste to the wheat before you make chapati - it adds both fat and is healthy. You can also try adding spinach or methi if it's okay with her to the wheat before making chapati. Try making smoothies out of vegetables and fruits and give it to her. Did you check her tonsils/adenoids with her physician? You can try making this powder - fry 3 spoons of zeera and 1/4 spoon of ajwain (without any oil) and make a powder of it in mixer, add this to rice and give the mixed rice with ghee and a little salt for taste (even one morsel in enough), this is a good appetizer. There is also something called periactin which is a drug prescribed by the doctor. It is a prescription drug and you should talk to your pediatrician and see if you can give her that drug. Does she like curd? Curd is cooling. You can also give her fibrous veggies like carrots or fruits like apples, bananas - they are very good for constipation. Give her a lot of water too. Don't give her any protein supplements even if the doctor recommends.

How about rice kheer, also little bit sweetened curd rice...It is a constant struggle dear, until they reach a certain age. You can also try sponge dosa, sweet or savory rice flour buttermilk pancakes, rava uthappam, plain or sweet idli varieties, rice sevai. Daliya or broken wheat is good too apart from Chapathi varieties. Keep trying. Some days, they will eat. Some days, they just don't want anything.

Hugs to u op. I'm also sailing in same boat. Give her favourite items together with rice. For eg. Curd rice with mango, even Biscuits with rice :coldsweat:. Somtimes i give my daughter white rice with ghee mixed with jeera powder. As it is a good appetizer.
Give lots of fruits and water. Her constipation issue will be resolved. If she likes sweet give curd with sugar

How about yogurt rice ? I understand rice is major staple for us South Indians . How about tiffin items like idli , dosa and aappam ? How about idiyappam ?
Maybe she doesn’t like the texture ? Does she have any sensory issues ? Will she eat any other food which is similar to rice texture ?

Eating chappatis does not produce heat. The constipation is probably because she is not having vegetables and dal with the chappatis.

Make palak or other greens chappatis. Boil some spinach or beetroot . Mash and kneed with flour. You will get nice green and pink chappattis . Give her with daal.

My kid was the same. She doesn't like rice, but will eat if I feed her. She is an 8 year old. But Over these years I figured out what she likes - she loves poori, appams, chicken curry etc. So I make one item she likes and she has to eat all the other stuff with it. As long as your kid has enough carbs from another source do not worry about her eating rice. I used cry because she used to skip meals, and not eat anything from preschool. then she comes home and eat 2 spoons of rice says she is full. It took a long time for me to figure out what she likes and it was frustrating. Now I learned that she is a gourmet eater, I plan accordingly.

If nothing, try fried food, homemade. She might like it. also, try a variety of food. For kids, rice and chappati everyday can be boring. It can be a challenge to cook a lot of things just for her. I would say offer her what you eat (or you eat what she likes and add one or two things that you like to it. Ex: my kid like poori, so I ask her to eat it with vegetable curry(which she doesn't like) and egg, so that she gets a little of everything). Have healthy snacks in hand. Also, eat together so she can try your food too. These are what I tried. Make sure she eats fruits and veggies, she will probably like it raw, so offer her that instead of any other snacks. try ranch with veggies, eat this with her. Hope this helps.

When you say chapati gives her constipation I guess wheat isn’t suiting her.

There are many chapati / roti variations that has less or no wheat. Veg purées / grated veggies can be added to many of those variations, which can cover the daily veg quota.

Since you are comfortable with rice, try rice roti, rice dosa, rice Idiyappam, rice uoma, rice vermicelli, rice noodles, etc.. there really are many other rice based food n not just the grain rice. Try n see what she likes.

Also try a reward program, if she eats this, she gets her favourite snack. Not ideal, but it helps to start it off.
