Turns out that I can give expensive gifts but am a cheapo when it comes to wrapping the gifts. :grinning: Just finally ran out of wrapping paper after years. I had bought four huge rolls from Costco many years ago and used them. The prints on them became synonymous with me and in Secret Santa parties people could easily tell which was from me.

So, I am in the market to replenish my gift wrap related supplies. What is the latest? Please share all about your gift-wrapping practices. You use wrapping paper? Prefer gift bags? Are you an expert at arranging the tissue in the gift bag so it looks elegant but not creased? Many of my arguments in the car with DH have been about him putting the gift bag carelessly in the trunk and squishing the tissues. "Why do they have to poke out?!?!" he used to yell back at me.

Share any suggestions on what all to buy.
    - wrapping paper, gift bags, bows
    - storage for the above
    - any special scissors, sticky tapes?
    - reuseable gift bags?

Any other creative ideas? Any tutorials on wrapping gifts elegantly? Or, how to put the tissues in the gift bag so they look like the display ones in stores?

One thing I have decided is that I am not buying huge rolls that last years.

I saw your comment on how much you liked Origami box making. Here is furoshiki for you. This is using textiles -- usually a square or rectangular piece of cloth -- to wrap a gift. The fabric is also a gift, that can be repurposed to pack items (unmentionables, usually) within a suitcase for travel. Google the name to see various videos on the subject... here are a couple:

There are extra large square fabrics in the Bandani style that are cheaper than the prints from amazon-usa site. One has to be in desh to buy them. I bought some Gujarati cut pieces many years ago. Amazing prints. Anyhow... back to gift wrapping.

You are quite right about cloth gift wraps to the unecological riff-raff . Like pearl necklace to a monkey.

Thanks @Amulet @SunPa. Those look beautiful but I was hoping for cheaper/basic ones. Like, what kind of wrapping paper, the latest in invisible sticky tapes... : )

I like plain brown paper wrap with a variety of colorful bows and strings. Or you can do as my DH does and just stick giant bows on the Amazon boxes LOL!

Japanese style of gift wrapping with paper.

After being bitten by the origami bug ( thanks to kids art projects) , I am fascinated by Japanese gift wrapping art and supplies. Amazon has a bunch.

I hope we cross paths in real life. I will be sure to invite you to my Bachha’s wedding. ( thank you note ke saath )

    These men!!
    They just don't understand!
Mine would say...there is some paper left in it.

    I prefer personalized wrapping.
If you want to keep it simple.
Get simple gift bags for non boxy gifts and personalize them. You could get plain wrappingaper for the boxy ones.

You can upcycle cereal boxes into bags for heavy gifts.

    Make personal gift tags.....
