Hope you all remember a recent post on divorce after 25 years due to PILS issue. Recently I met another Indian lady here, who divorced her h after 25 years of asexual marriage, with no love or care, and after kids graduated from high school. Her kids, born through ivf, even asked her to get out of the marriage. She , even though financially independent, stayed in marriage as she didn't want to hurt her Indian parents. Following divorce she met another white gentleman. He convinced her for another marriage. Her parents are no more. After 5 years of friendship finally they married this year (in her early fifties, by Indian standard life of a woman is over by this age). Her kids actively participated in their Indian style marriage ceremony as per photos on FB . She told me , now only she realized that this is the way a man should treat their wife. So happy for her.

This has often crossed my mind.

Some men see their wives as property and will see red at any infringement on their territory. A stranger who dares utter an unkind word is swiftly put in his/her place. Where does this proprietary sense go when his parents abuse his bride?

Boys who are totally incapable of making eye contact with a girl and exchange banal pleasantries are also able to get a wife through their parents' negotiated arrangement. This gratitude (finders' fee?) is what could make a husband allow his parents the liberties they take with his property.

If the Man went ahead and through his own efforts, convinced a girl to throw her lot with him, even if he considers her his property, he'd be strongly against trespass.
