Any time away from home is a way to try new food and places, so we don’t cook at all during vacations.

I usually take dhaal, tortilla, ready mix/paste, mango pickle, 1 or 2 vegetables, uncooked rice, electric stove. We eat outside while on vacation but either dinner or lunch...home food I feel best for kids.

The best part of coming back from vacation is making hot rasam/dal, rice, egg n pickle to gobble after missing home cooked food..

Yes nothing beats our Indian food. Especially after having only American, Mexican and other cuisines, I feel even Upma is delicious after the trip.

I am a vegetarian so usually there isnt much menu choice.

I usually book self catering and take rice cooker, dal cooker, pre cooked food, pulihora mixes.. dosa batter etc.

My DH and kids eat anything so they usually get food from outside on vacations or eat at the cottage with me.

I can relate to this so much being a vegetarian. We don’t have much choice here in US. So sometimes we try to find Indian restaurants and happily order vegetarian dishes.

Now I’m craving for some yummy pulihora. Will make it tonight probably
