Thank you Rihana. Your appreciation itself means a lot.

I hope other posters, active and silent are getting the required help as they are holding their family together.

Thank you Sabi! Coming from you this means a lot.

I hope to continue to add to the list when time permits. Hopefully someone out there will benefit from it.

Thank you for the wishes Sabi! It’s helping me in a lot of ways.
I looked and looked for your name as I spectated the Chicago marathon last month. I can’t believe it’s almost a month! You have always kept me in your thoughts and I’ll never forget the time you got in touch when I was MIA for a while just to make sure I’m ok. That were the difficult year. It really helped having virtual friends check on me. Thank you for that Sabi!

    Thank you @armummy!

I went through similar situation. First time I heard the word autism for my son when they diagnosed. Googled ....then did research... did so many forum reading.....I couldn't understand......crying every night why my son have to go through this. What I did when I was pregnant...??? I wasnt eating much healthy food...end up eating more junk food might be that's the reason ...no answer...

It took sometime but now it's been 11 years I learnt a lot from the therapy...meeting...conference meetup etc. My son taught me a lot and I am into my son's world now...he still progressing...everyday I work with him as a mom, therapist, nutriontist, teacher, safety guard etc...

One thing I learned lately please always seek help earlier...don't isolate yourself
..go to all meetings, birthday party or any event with your kid...you can Meetup other similar parents group. Always talk to school teachers, therapist and other people whom your kid come in contact on daily basis. Only as a team we can make their world understandable.

Lessons I learnt after my son's diagnosis:

    1. Your kids are most important...inin a situation ....just think about them...how healthy you can make them to eat, productive play, talk to them, hug them...

    2. Save save $$$ for your kids future..no one going to help them except us(parents)

    4. Ignore people around you... telling negative thoughts or if you feel they are not right fit to stay in your circle..ignore them

    5. Take care of yourself. Relax and save your energy when your kid is not around you. You need to be available for them always happy face and full positive energy

    6. Pray to God or enjoy sometime in relaxing way..watch favorite movie or listen to music

    7. Good and positive relationship with your husband

    8. Always think yourself before you try biomedical treatment or diet or therapy...are we going in correct path???? If not always change the road and try different things..

    9. More than that enjoy your weekend or holidays time with your kid..cooking favorite food...movie etc

Hugs @Mehana ! Hang in there. Thank you for adding your inputs to the thread.

This is so important. To let them have a lot of down time and find fun activities to do together. My son loves to get involved in the kitchen too. Baking is his favorite activity!
