I personally feel it is a good development.
In India, getting married is too easy. Everyone gets married whether they deserve it or not.
No one should marry if they are not satisfied with the match....specially in arranged marriage.
Arranged marriage is all about finding the match with most number of ticks.

Earlier it was easy. The woman was expected to drop her life and move in with guy and his world. Even the working ones were expected to drop everything and start again when it was convenient and permissable.
Women who questioned were called ones with bad attitude.

Now with the girl's job being as important...far more things need to be considered .
People have started filtering to only in Delhi or even only west Delhi rishtas. When this happens obviously it becomes a little more difficult to find matches.
Why should girls study for 17- 18 years to have no say in their lives?

It is better that people are waiting for longer to find matches. If people find someone too easily,it doesn"t have so much value.
May be if people have to wait for many years, they will put in more effort into the marriage. Similarly families will also be more invested in keeping the marriage working...on both sides because they will know how difficult it is to find matches.

I see more positives in this .
Not every maa ka ladla and every papa's princess deserves to get married.

Infact many people who do not want to get married will be able to lead the life they want because there will be less stigma in staying single.

This last sentence wasn't quoted by @yellowmango in the above post.

This maturity comes with age, in employment (dealing with various characters, power-plays, organizational politics and even harassments), and in a few cases premarital liaisons of the taboo kind as well. All good developments. They mellow out a person, polish the rough edges in the personality, make them more tolerable to shenanigans, and makes them remember the goal, the darn point of marriage, and life. The delay in arranging marriages is a good thing while the boy and girl are put through this shaping process.

Im sorry I dont have a positive view of the situation as seen by you. Neither do I expect that children should follow their parents views and likes with regard to their choice of marriage partner etc. Only time will tell.
