What Is Love?

    I am posting this question in this sub-forum, because I do not want to restrict this topic to any one specific category of 'love' It could be love for your dog, cat, baby (all of which I perfectly understand), but love for other human beings - what does this hackneyed word mean?

    My mother loves my sister more than me.
    Love your neighbour.
    Spread love everywhere.
    Love everybody.
    Do not hate anybody.

    From the spiritual realms, from people having experienced NDEs, from our parents, in our moral science classes ..... this is the common thread, but can anyone please define the word (or at least try to) for me?
    Is 'liking' a person and 'loving' them inextricably linked? Can you like a person without loving them? Can you love a person without really liking them?

    I don't know if this is a stupid question, but there you are. I asked it.

    Love, hate all these emotional words are invented by humans and we are brain tuned to believe certain norms about each emotion.

    What we feel is just a chemical reaction.Everything happens coz of brain tuning.Influenced by media,books about what “true love” is.Be it our suffering,happiness everything.We are caught so deep in the trap that there is no looking back:(

    Nothing is real.All MAYA!

    life is just survival instinct and survival of the fittest.

    That's an interesting perspective. While I can understand chemical reaction in connection with romantic love, I wonder about love for parents, siblings, friends and then for other people in general.

    Love is a warm feeling that emanates from you when you think of the person in question, it could be your, mother, child, sibling, spouse, yourself!
    A wave of thrill, contentment and rush runs through your body when you love someone not all the time, but most times!
